Battery converter question

Does anyone know if when the trailer is plugged on to a 120V source and you use DC current for, say the slide, does the converter as well as the batteries supply the power or is it only the converter?

I believe it’s both. Usually there is a label that says you need a battery installed to operate slides.

Battery + converter = move the slides.

No battery + converter + plugged into 110v = too much pressure on the converter/DON'T MOVE SLIDES!

Chuckster is right on.

So the battery and converter work in tandem for DC supply

Yes and as ctbruce said DO NOT use converter alone to move slides it will overload it and may cause damage. The main function of the converter is to add some amperage to "assist" the battery during high demand loads and to charge the battery.

Ok thanks all. I was curious as to why i was seeing a battery discharge indication on my solar charger monitor when using DC while on shore power. Great forum. Don't think i could have found this by looking at converter manual.

The battery is a storage device. It’s amp hour rating and capacity far exceed what the converter can output.

As stated with battery in place current draw will come from battery and converter when hooked to shore power but converter will not fit itself trying to deliver current draw being demanded with battery in place.

Agree with several here.
Assuming your converter and dist panel are separate...

Your distribution panel (12VDC portion) is fed from both the converter and the Battery. It's also the point where the converter has the ability to connect to the battery to charge it when on the genset or shore power.
