Fireplace remote not working.

2018 3811ms. Titan Flame fireplace. Put new battery in remote, still no light at tip. Fireplace won’t work. Any suggestions? This is the 3rd battery just in case I had a bad one.

I am sure you’ve tried all angles, but my remote is very finicky. Has to be just right to work. Usually takes me 10 or so clicks to find the sweet spot. Always seems to be directly in front and down low with remote to get it to work.

Sometimes you can find the infra red sensor on the device by shining a bright flashlight around it at close range. If you can find the IR sensor, then you know exactly where to point the remote.

Thanks. Does the remote shine a light at the end, I’m guessing the infrared? My remote doesn’t light up at the end.

Yes, the remote "shines infrared"... Infrared is "beyond visual light frequency" and your eyes can't see it, although it's there... Sort of "invisible light that communicates between the remote and the fireplace receiver. Essentially, yes, it lights up at the end, but the light is invisible to the naked eye.

Is there a manual for the fireplace? If yes, what does it say? If no, have you contacted the manufacturer for one? Even if there is no working remote, isn't there a control panel or an area where there are old fashioned switches or buttons? Our Dimplex fireplace has a hidden panel behind a metal door that we use for turning the fireplace on and off. Maybe there is a switch that makes the remote work where the switches are.

I would bet this is your problem. I have trouble with mine unless I aim low directly in front too.

Ours either works or it wont, all depending on the distance and - or angle. Then sometimes it just wont work without hitting the buttom a half dozen or more times even a foot away from the sensor.

Well, embarrassingly enough, my neighbor came over and showed me the on/off switch in the top right hand corner. Works like a charm now. Wasn’t shown that in orientation.

Hmmm! Interesting. Ours doesn't have a 'master switch' though does have a set of manual controls on the top, supplemented by the remote.

As an FYI, you can use a digital camera to test an IR remote to see if it is transmitting.
