I want to see

so after reading a new post here it looks like a couple members probably more have old cars and hot rods. Since we have the "lets see your TV" thread I thought some of you may want to show us your "old cars"

These are my pride and joys. The first is my '66 Formula S Barracuda
340 Wedge with MoPar Purple Cam
750 CFM Holley Double Pumper
727 Torqueflite
8 3/4 Chrysler rear
The 2nd is my '64 Imperial LeBaron
3rd is my '56 Imperial with a "real" HEMI.
I guess it is obvious that I'm a MoPar guy. Now we're talking my language!

Old Car Thread

After 38 years in the car business (retired 4 years ago) I am up for seeing old cars and to this day am fascinated at the "then and now" tech and saftey features that have transformed vehicles into safer handling machines.

Two of my favorite pass times are: this forum and Mecum Car Auctions.

Let's set this thread up and git r done....

Davidjsimmons, It's amazing that your "pride and joy" is 2 years older than my pride and joy. No I don't own it any longer, I certainly wish I did, but was unable to keep it during overseas deployments. It was my surf torquoise 1968 Barracuda Formula S, 383 with 2 4bbls, 4 speed, white vinyl interior and tiger paw red line tires. It was the fastest car in the UP until someone brought a "souped up 442" across the bridge I bought it new at Hornbogen's Chrysler/Plymouth in Marquette, Michigan for the grand sum of $3,000. Sticker was $3,400 and change.....I picked it up on my 21st birthday.

I got 17 MPG and roughly 300 miles to a set of rear tires.... OH, those were the days

Met my wife, traded the car for a wedding ring and the rest is history. I've looked off and on for a replacement, but none would compare to the original. The memories seeing these classic cars brings to all of us

Thanks for sharing.

My '66 gets about 10 mpg! Tread wear is about the same as yours.

The 17MPG was on trips at 70MPH when the state police were out in force. Around town when nobody was watching, my mileage was the same as yours. <sigh> Back then, Michigan had a 12 point system for traffic violations, I stayed at 11 for most of my young adult life

Memories

My brother and I bought a 426 HEMI Barracuda 8 3/4 rear and no warranty. we kept it for 2 years then sold it. Paid 4,200 and got 6,000 for it. I saw one on auction same engine and rear went for 250,000 boy I wish I kept it.The guy I sold my 65 GTO Ragtop to for 2,000 in 1967 wanted 25,000 for it in 1991. It still looked like new with only 40,000+miles. If i kept all the cars from my 1957 Plymouth-1969 Shelby Mustang I would have some collection.

I know how you feel, Brantlaker. That's the main reason I don't have my 68 Barracuda. I've found a few around for sale. Either they're burned out wrecks with no hope of ever looking good even with a frame off rebuild or they are well into the high thousands. ($35 and up). That's just more than I can justify for a "not perfect" rebuild. At the big auction in LasVegas a few years ago, I was told that one went for $125K and still needed some work. WOW, if only we'd have known back then what they'd be worth someday LOL

I have a white 65 Imperial that was my Grandfathers. It needs to be restored but it is a good canidate for a resto. It has a 132,00 miles and most of those miles it was hitched to a 1957 Avon 26' single axle with me as a kid in the back seat. The 413 had no problems pulling it. The transmission needs to be rebuilt before it can be driven.

This is my 1966 Nova SS. I have had this car for about 16 years and don't remember how much blood, sweat, and tears. Has a 327 V8 putting out about 330 HP and a Tremec 5 speed transmission. Every part that is bolted in place has been removed at least twice and some many more than that, some day I might get it perfect. After we started camping it doesn't get many miles.
