I'm not sure where the breach from outside to inside is. It's my understanding rats/mice can fit through just about anything larger than a pencil width and once he got into the undershell of the camper it was probably just a matter of it finding a gap around a hose or pipe. Are you able to see if you have the gaps around your stabilizers I described?

Gap

I'll take a look to see, however I think we do have this gap, If I remember right, I put my hand up there once to pull the drain hose down from the portable aircon unit in the garage.

Rats (cont)

Thanks, I'd appreciate it. I'm sure that the critter must've climbed the rear stabilizer and gained entry that way. I'm going to have the RV dealer pop-rivet sheet metal over the openings to help keep this front happening again, but if it was something Keystone should have done during manufacturing, I'm going to see if they'll pick up the tab. It may have been a one-time occurrence, but I've seen what rats and squirrels can do to a boat after coming off a over-seas deployment and certainly don't want this to happen to my camper. Here in Florida it is an ever-present threat.

Rat inside

Please post photo of said rat. Is this a New York size rat or a mouse size rat 2 legged or 4 legged?

Option: sit inside quietly with loaded shotgun, per VP Joe Biden, and fire above his/her little (or big) head when it pops up......kind of like "whack a mole"!

Option 2: trade the rv in immediately.

Option 3: find that entry point inside the living area and plug it with expanded foam from Home Depot. Minimize outside openings to a small enough opening they will choose to go to another rv versus yours.

If all of the above fail; and you do not wish to trade, get a BIG CAT and trust me, no more intrusive critters. Our cat is 16 lbs and HUGE. Her daddy weighs 26 lbs and is solid muscle. She is a Maine Coon, with claws and will end your concern! We rarely even have bugs. She can catch, trap and KILL the best!

ps: make sure you have the necessary hunting supplies on hand: couple of 6 packs and some cheese and crackers to pass the time away.

Holy cow, that is one big cat! I love those Coon cats.... Only one I have ever seen (Opie) belongs to a friend of mine, that cat is the most lovable creature, first time meeting... jumped up on my lap and didn't want to move.

Rats (ended)

Wow, thanks guys for providing all the useless drivel about shotguns and cats, when a simple "yes" or "no" would have sufficed. I'm sure if the forum paid you for useless information you provide, you'd be rich. No need to post a reply as I won't be visiting here anymore. Obviously, this forum serves no purpose for people seeking real solutions to issues. Have fun screwing with each other! Adios!

Bah! Humbug! Have a Merry Christmas.

On that cheery note, might as well close the thread to all drivel and other useless information.
