I happened to have an 18 volt dewalt laying around not being used but just simply using the hand crank is really pretty easy and I would not buy a drill just to lower and raise the jacks.

No need for overkill here, a cheap harbor freight deal is adequate. When and if it dies, who cares? Hand cranking not a biggie. There are times when cheap is good enough.

That's what I'm going to ask my son to get me for father's day.

Went with a Ryobi 18v one + set up.. They also make a raft/bike tire inflator that runs off the same battery.. A nice addition to have on hand...

I use my cordless drill motor, hammer drill and cutoff wheel quite often and am done with the cheap brands. Makita for me.
I bought a Ryobi chop saw after breaking my tool rule. Sparked and failed on the first cut when fabicating a camper dolly. Gave it to a neighbor for parts and back to the store for a Makita. One of these days I'll learn my lesson.

Are the bolt heads/nuts used to drive the jacks- 3/4 Inch? What size chuck on cordless drills are folks using to drive the jacks?
What minimum battery pack voltage is recommended? 18 or 20 volt?
Thanks.

Just to let everyone know and close-out this thread, I ended-up buying a B&D 18V cordless drill off Amazon, mainly because I already had a B&D 18V cordless weed-eater, so the battery packs are interchangeable. The B&D drill worked like a charm on the stabilizers, so the 18V is quite adequate for the job. Thanks to all for the advice.

I bought a b&d 20 volt cordless drill at the beginning of last season, as it was relatively inexpensive and would be devoted to trailer use (manual scissor jacks). The motor smoked and burned up on one of my last fall trips, 6 months later. Suffice it to say, Thanksgiving week specials landed me a Dewalt that will hopefully last longer than 6 months. Black and Decker, never again.

Even though I must have at least 6 Milwaukee 2701-22CT M18 1/2 cordless drills I still bring the jacks up and down manually. I ask myself to this day why I don't just chuck a few drills into the job box and I never have any answers.

Well, the B&D cordless weed whacker has lasted a number of years, so lets hope the B&D cordless drill does the same! i still have an old B&D cordless drill that used the rechargeable batteries that looked like "elephant gun" cartridges, must be at least 15 years old, still goin' strong, but since the batteries are no longer available, didn't want to depend on that one on the road.
