Fridge fan

My fridge fan seems to run all the time. Not a problem when at an RV park but when dry camping the batteries run down so far that the Gen won't start. Any suggestions on what causes this?

It would be easier to answer if the type of fridge and how old it is were known. If you are talking about the outside fans of an RV type fridge, they are controlled by a small switch attached to the top fin on the cooling unit, and if your fridge is in cooling mode, they will continue to run to keep the air moving as long as the switch senses heat. They will also run longer if the outside air temperature is high. If you do a lot of dry camping, it would help if you had larger batteries, or more of them. You also might consider solar.
