Pull down rear screen

Are the sides of the screen/mesh of the rear pull down screen door supposed to be attached to anything or does the material just float in a channel along each side?

The pull-down are in channels on each side. The less expensive version (mine) you hand roll to the top and snug it tight with attatched straps. Roll it down and seal the edges on the velcro (that I applied).

When I replace it I'll go with the pull-down version, unless someone knows something different.

Thanks for the replies. All the times I have looked at them on trailers I never noticed that the screen mesh was just loose on the sides and not attached to anything. Seems like you would have to check it every time you roll it down and make sure the screen mesh is inside the track and there are no gaps, otherwise that would defeat the purpose of having a screen. I though mine was broken already, but sounds like that's the way it was designed.
