The motor will be a complete assembly that bolts onto the arm. It may be riveted or screwed onto the roller tube, either way it's fairly easy to change.
You might want to get a couple of large long zip ties, put them around the arm once you extend it a bit. The strut will try to open the arm the rest of the way, and you will have to remove the motor assembly from the arm. I've seen the motor wiring done two different ways, so just connect and test. If it's backwards just reverse the wires.
