Remodeled Garage with new Motorcycle hold downs
This past summer I remodeled the garage area of our 2009 Fuzion 403 to add more living space to the rig.
Included were matching flooring to the main salon, a cabinet cover for the Washer/dryer, a six drawer cabinet with drop down table top, a more useable couch configuration for the lower electric bed, and a closet bar across the width of the garage behind the new couch area.
All of this would have been useless if the main function of the garage, to carry motorcycles, was compromised.
Took some thinking and careful measuring but the end result was well worth the time and $$ invested.
I fabricated the bike mounts out of pieces of trailer wheel mounts. Available for less than $50.00 a pair. I then made the mount plates and and rails out of 3/16" X 2" steel. A little paint and that was that.
The bikes rest on one foot wide rolls of 1/2" thick rubber available from Tractor Supply. (Comes in rolls by the foot used for animal stall flooring.)
The anchor rings go into the trailer's floor frames, or the floor was reinforced from underneath to handle the stress.
When the rack/s are out , the only visible parts left are the 1 1/4" Bronze screw bungs , flush with the floor, that the tie down bolts screw into. (The tie down rings/bolts hold the racks and the rubber in place as well as strap points for the bikes.
This is so clean and so solid!!!!!!! Plus when removed the garage looks just like the rest of the rig.
