Cover or No Cover

I have a 2013 Passport Ultra Grand Touring. We live in NE Pennsylvania were the winters are unpredictable. I am debating on whether to spend the money on a cover or not. Looking for suggestions....

After reading many posts on this subject, we have opted to hold off on a cover for now.

Other than our first pop up which leaked, I have never covered any trailer. I always figured that something rubbing abainst the trailer for 6 months everytime the winds blows would not be a good thing. Just like people that put the "bra" on the front of their car, can never take it off because the paint is gone after awhile.

I am getting ready to trade in a 2007 Jayco Jayflight for a new keystone rv. Sun and water caught up with me. Probably would have gotten 3 to 5 more years service out the rv. Cover will be worth the price. A couple hundred bucks is cheap insurance.

A wood frame or all metal cover is the only way to do it right.

Cover or No Cover

I have this style on order! We have owned the trailer 3 years. We want to own it many more, so the finance lady said lets do it! Ordered it last week waiting for the install now.

I am on my second cover for my 27RKS fifth wheel and ithas saved my roof from weathering or being punctured like what happened with our fist 5th wheel (Komfort 24 ft). I would recommend a cover.
IMHO!

I've had success using covers in the past. It sure made for a much cleaner RV in the spring.

Most issues related to rubbing is due poorly fitted covers and those not adequately tight enough to minimize blowing in the wind. Some billowing is usually ok if it moves like a wave and isn't flapping against the RV.

I'd really like a carport or awning structure, but I live in the city and they just won't allow it.

I have to admit the new fiberglass campers are way easier to scrub clean in the spring than the old tin side campers!!! So for now I'm not covering either of my newer fiberglass campers.

The cover byrdr1 has you can also get the sides closed in all the way. I looked at ones like that and if you want it quick or don't have the means of framing one up your self. It's the way to go because they come installed. Very nice. Hope we have helped you with some options. I built mine from the ground up with cement. 16x40 with 14 feet clearance. For less than 6k. Now I plan on a roll up door for the front.

Looks like this thread has answered my question about buying a cover. I will not be buying one for my Cougar. Great site, thanks folks!

Cover or No Cover

We'll the eagle landed yesterday for my cover. Camper won't see it for at least 3 weeks. It's in storage for 2, then we'll use it 9 days until I bring it back home. This was PITA to get installed, but it's up and now I have to back the camper into the spot.

We'll the campers home and resting well. I need to get it cleaned up and back into its home. I backed the 5er right into/under the cover first try. Wife said good job! 😄
Only been under it a week and can tell this will be money well spent.
