Fredericksburg TX KOA
Planning our maiden voyage for this October. Anyone been to the KOA in Fredericksburg TX? Website seems to be a nice place for our shakedown trip.
Would also like to visit the WWII museum.

Never been to the KOA but the museum is really good. We stayed at a B&B there.

Try Hondo's in town for a great burger, music on the patio, and cold beer!

Driven thru the KOA several times, never stayed, but it appears as nice as any rv park in Fredericksburg.

We've been to Fredricksburg several times over the years. Stayed at the KOA the first time, it's ok. Stayed at the Fredricksburg RV Park, liked it better, it's closer to downtown. Then we have stayed a few times at Lady Bird Johnson Municipal Park where we liked the most. Not saying your likes and dislikes are the same as ours, but this is a couple more places to research. The WWII museum is very interesting! Enjoy Fredricksburg, and your maiden voyage!

It's been a long time since we did Rving in Fredericksburg but the KOA was OK. It is quite a way from Fredericksburg (unless they have a new one) and at the cutoff to go to Luckenbach if I recall. So if you stay there you might as well make a trip to Luckenbach and visit with "Waylon, Willie and the boys".

Thank you for the replies. Still making plans, hope it doesn't rain before hand.

Fredericksburg KOA
We have stayed there several times in the past decade. It's ok. Years ago when we were in a pop up we swore it off for hot weather because the restrooms were not air conditioned...which means you take a shower and you can never dry off due to heat and humidity. Stayed there last in Dec 2017 to see the Christmas decorations and shop. We were in our Laredo and did not use the facility rest rooms so I have no idea if they have air conditioned them in recent years. We also stayed once out at lady bird Johnson park near the airport in the pop up and it was ok. We drove thru the yogi bear when it was new but I believe we thought it was over priced. There is a place in town called Oakwood RV ( I think) and it looked good. If and when we go back I would probably stay at the familiar KOA.

Thanks a lot, Danny. I've had that line playing in my head all day.

We stayed at the Oakwood RV park, a couple of years ago, with 2 other couples.
It was nice, the spaces we had were adequate, not huge, but not bumping against the neighbors either.
We spent most of our time in town, eating, drinking and shopping.
The Nimitz museum is great, plan for some time, it is fairly large.

Stayed there in April 2018...clean, well maintained and managed, and pretty good location. Has a little more pizazz than most KOAs!

To add.
If you like wine tasting, you will be in wine heaven!
There are wine tour shuttles.
You might be able to catch a show at the Rockbox Theater.

We stayed at Lady Bird Johnson Park and thought it was good. Close to town to shop or whatever...
Nice clean restrooms , full hookups, and quiet
Good luck on your travels!

Used to live near Fredericksburg, been there many times. Stayed at KOA. It was nice, and there are shady areas, with all the trees, but it is pretty far from town. There are so many "touristy" things to do there, that it can be hard at times to find an RV spot. The last time, the only place we found available was at Quiet Creek RV Park, on the west side of town. It was closer to town, and a nice park. We would stay there again.
Pacific War Museum is one of the best I've been to. Hondo's is great, especially Sunday at noon, where you can enjoy Gospel music while drinking beer and having lunch. The problem with the winery shuttle buses is you don't get much choice of which wineries you can go to. These shuttles work out arrangements with wineries that the shuttle company gets "paid" to bring people there. Find out what the older wineries are; those are usually the best places to go.
If you hope to book an RV site at the last minute, you may have trouble finding a spot. Plan ahead.
