Poor visibility down right side of passport

I have a 2015 passport 2650bh that I tow with my 2011 Silverado 1500 with towing mirrors. I can't seem to get good visibility down the right side of the trailer. Almost like I can't see around the awning and it doesn't let me judge the back end on that side. This is my first travel trailer so I am wondering is this common or is there any thing I could do to get a better view on that side.

Different "Towing" mirrors will have different views. If your having no issues on the road side, make sure the curb side mirror is out an equal distance and the angle is the same.

It sounds like your looking down the side of the trailer, and yes the awning arm will obstruct your view. As long as I can see the back corners I am happy, it takes some getting used to the view in your mirrors.

I don't know what the Silverado 1500 "towing mirrors" are like but if they are like the ones I had my Ram 1500 they don't compare to the ones on my HD 2500. I always struggled trying to see down the passenger side....that is no longer an issue.

I have the OEM gm towing mirrors and they are extended all the way out when towing. And the mirror arms have almost like a detent in them so they have to be folded in or out. I can not see the back corner when driving straight. Once I come into a right turn it comes into view. I guess it's something I have to get used too.

I have the same towing mirrors on my 1500 that are on the 2500 & 3500s. I can't see the back corner either. I use the smaller mirror on the bottom to try and watch the TT wheels and then the upper mirror to fill in the blind spot. Judging where everything is takes time and practice.

You will definitely see better down the drivers side. The main key is to have the mirror adjusted to see cars in the lane next to you and not so much the trailer side.

Are your mirrors the vertical ones with 2 arms or the horizontal with the plastic "molding?" that attaches to the truck?
When I had a GMC with the horizontal mirrors I used snap on extensions that worked well.

Mine are vertical with 2 arms. I think this is what the OP put on his truck too.

I did a Google search and people were complaining about it on a forest river forum. It was also on a gm truck. I work on city buses and have a Cdl so I often drive large vehicles. But I am used to being able to see the back corners on both sides. I guess it's common and I'm just going to have to get used to it on the travel trailer.

It's a shame they don't go out another inch or two. I think that would be enough.

Sorry for bringing this thread back up but it has raised a red flag for me. I was searching for a thread I read a short time back that included several sources for getting those OEM and or after market copies of said mirror here. But now I reading they possibly are not going to help me with the same issue this thread is about. Or will they if a Passport is wider than what I have which is 8 ft. So, how wide is the Passport mentioned at the head of this thread ?

X2 on that comment, I also think its better to see the cars that might be there instead of the side of the RV other than a glance to make sure nothing is sticking out.

I've since upgraded to a DRW F350 and my mirrors still don't show the right side past the awning arm.

If you are looking at the OEM direct mirrors built for GM as replacements, ask if they will be raked back like the OP’s pictures. I had looked into replacement mirrors for my 2004 3500HD Silverado years ago and the MFG of the mirrors said that only the parts they produced for the GM factory install had the rake. Without it you’d get about another inch or two extension. Just be aware that wind noise could increase as well.

Did a check in regards to the angle of the left and right housings to one another. They are both spot on. If you've notice things on the right mirror look larger. It's that darn convex mirror that looses the straight line view that the right. Even the clamp on ones that I wanna get away from has a convex mirror on the right. Going to try a test by temporally placing a flat mirror over the convex one.
