New member just bought our first TT

Hi, we just acquired a 2005 Zeppelin 241 last week. This is our first TT. I have found some mods I would like to make in the next couple of weeks
Spring over axle
Remove decals
Buy new batteries
Install beefier locks for the passthrough area.
Buy generator, have a champion 5500 but that thing is loud...

Any advise is welcome. We are towing the trailer with a Nissan Xterra, weight control distribution 800 lbs and sway control and prodigy brake controller.

I am located in Oakland County in Michigan. Looking forward for a nicer weather to start camping on the weekends and start planning our vacations.

Upgrades to the vehicle
Add secondary transmission cooler
Add a leaf or airbags

Thanks
Ramiro

to the forum and to RVing. We're happy you joined our group and hope that you will learn much and enjoy your stay with us. There has been a tremendous amount of discussion regarding generators on the forum. Use the search feature found in the blue bar at the top of every forum page to access that information.

Dometic is the appliance manufacturer who makes most of the AC's installed in Keystone trailers. They recommend a minimum of a 3500 watt generator to power an RV if the AC is to be run. Some have said that they power their RV with a 2000 watt generator and have no problems. I believe the general consensus is that is too small a generator to do the job.

Anyway, do your own research, see what you think and don't be afraid to ask questions if any come up. You're sure to get answers.

Welcome. I am new here too and we are awaiting delivery of our new Cougar.

I have absolutely nothing good to say about Sears/Craftsman generators. Nothing, no way, no how!!!!!!

We bought our first TT in 2004 and a week later were off to retrace the entire route of Lewis & Clark with our Grandsons. We made it as far as Idaho and decided to do Yellowstone instead. We love RVing.

Hi everyone, thanks for the welcome. We have finally taken our trailer to a camping site and we really enjoyed the stay. We stayed at Huron Manistee National Forest in Oscoda, MI and it is a beautiful place. The only thing that really got us thinking was that the Xterra surely worked hard to get there. We are looking into possibly changing the TV for a Nissan Titan.. I am going to try and make some mods to help engine/transmission...

Howdy

Can you elaborate on "Spring over axle"

did you find it necessary?

Actually, after reviewing my TTs suspension, I dont have springs/leafs... The TT has independent suspension, so no lifting the trailer.

Usually vehicles and trailers have the axle resting on top of the leaf pack, if this is flipped, then the leaf pack will sit on top of the axle giving you a higher clearance of 3 to 4 inches...

Welcome!

Perhaps he's going to flip his axle.

Thanks.

I have a dumb question for the forum... How do I know if my trailer is for 30 or 50 amps?

Getting another TV?

I am thinking in getting a used full size truck F150 V8. I see that there are some with the 4.6L engine and a 5.4L engine. Any recommendations/comments on either engine?
