Your luck is better than mine! And retrieving a PEX line from inside a wall with mechanical claw didn't work for me as the PEX was too slick, don't ask me how I know.

way to proceed. Also, don't button it all back up until after you've leak checked
the fittings.

Excellent advice.

When I did mine last year I didn't have very much room to work. I mostly just wedged my hand in there and got the old one loose and the new one connected. Scraped the hand up a bit but got it done. It is a tight squeeze but it can be done.

I needed to replace the entire shower faucet assembly and found it on line, it was the exact replacement part and color. I was able to remove the old and install the new and even though it was tight, everything fit easily and there was enough "give" in the lines that it was a fairly easy replacement. I resealed it with caulking and all works great.

I replaced mine a few months back...I added brass fittings on the end of the PEX to get rid of the plastic ones....added two short braided water supply lines and a new shower faucet...now i have plenty of slack if I ever need to replace again....

I updated the shower faucet in my Hideout recently. It was extremely tight but I was able to get it done (eventually). Hand got a little scraped up, but I survived Upgraded the hose and shower head while I was at it.

Remember to caulk it back up when done. I used clear caulk and it looks real nice, compared to the yellowish snot stuff they used at the factory.
