Questions about my 2020 Springdale TT

1) When I get to camp, do I switch on both the LP gas and electric at the control panel?
2) While traveling I know to turn off the LP (for the fridge) at gas pumps. Can I just turn off the tank or do I need to enter the RV and turn it off too?

1)-Assuming you will have electrical hook up at your campsite, it is up to you. You can choose to turn on both if you want. Many folks with small (6 gallon) hot water tanks do this so they have faster recovery times.
I personally do not use the propane side once hooked up, as we find we have plenty of hot water without doing so. Everyone's situation is different though, and it will be something you can decide for yourself once you get used to the trailer.

2)-Again, this is something some of us do, and some don't.

If you are running your tow vehicle on Gasoline, it is safest to shut off all propane before refueling.(Diesel, in my opinion, is not as critical)
Again, it is safer to shut the propane off at it's source (the tanks) than to shut off individual appliances (fridge and HWT).

Happy camping

Depending on the situation and location, we will either run WH on electric only (at a full hookup site) unless someone is showering, then we will run electric and gas for faster hot water recovery and then back to electric only. We generally only use gas for WH when we are at a site with no hookups.

I leave my propane on the whole time I’m traveling, even at a gas station. Technically you should have the propane off the entire time you are traveling but it’s the choice I make to keep my refrigerator on. It can be kind of a hot topic (pun intended), a lot of people keep it on and a lot of people don’t.

As far as the water heater, if I have electric hook ups I keep the electric side turned on. If we are showering we may also turn on the gas side to get a quicker turn around time. If we are dry camping we only turn on the water heater when needed and use gas. We don’t keep the water heater on all the time when we are dry camping.

I leave my fridge on while traveling. My fridge is on the back wall of my TT, so I have close to 40 ft from the gas tank to the fridge. No chance I'm going to set it off while filling.

As for the hot water, it depends. I've only got 30 amp, so if it's hot and I'm running the AC, I'll leave the hot water on propane. That way I can still run the microwave without my EMS shutting things off. If it's not hot, than the HW AC is turned on.

If your fridge is on LP or auto, and you simply turn off the tanks at the gas station, the refer will most likely go into “fault” mode and not re light when you turn the LP back on. Your better off turning it off at the fridge before pulling up to the pumps, then turn it back on after leaving the pumps.

LIQUID gasoline doesn’t burn, VAPOR does. Granted your fridge flame is behind 2 different shields, with a good breeze gasoline vapors may make it that far....never say never (no chance). Odds are in your favor.

I turn both switches on when setting up, once its to temp and electric is hooked up I turn off propane.
I leave my fridge run when travelling, my fridge is on the passenger side of TV, and gas fill is on drivers side. If I smell that much vapour when at gas station, I am just getting the heck out of there.
The only time I have shut off propane is on a ferry, it's a must.

^ Ditto. Crossing on BC Ferries you are required to close and tape shut propane tank valves. They randomly come around and check.

Are you saying you're legally required to shut off the propane when going on the ferry?

Isn't it also legally required for the fueling stations?

Yes, you are legally required on a ferry.
They check and enforce it, they don't at petrol stations, I have never seen a sign.
I can run I can't swim
