Exterior compartment door hardware

How many of you have had issues with the turn latches and key locks leaking? I noticed Tustin running out of one of my doors after rain. Turns out that door is kinda water logged and starting to deteriorate. So, I'm now removing them all (afternoon at the campsite) and causing prior to reassembly. Any better ideas?

Check for drain holes that should be located directly below the locks, vertically down in the baggage door frame. On one of my doors, the drain holes were mispositioned and allowed water to collect. I drilled new holes that intersected the holes for the latch and lock and problem solved.

I was getting water behind the metal trim ring. Rust was coming out if the drain holes and one door woill eventually need replacing is my guess. Hopefully i have it fixed now.

The plastic trim around the perimeter of our passage doors allowed water to migrate in. I sealed the bottom half of each door with white exterior caulking and it has helped. I also put a bead around each passage lock.

My holes are not directly below my locks on this particular door. I may drill new ones. I have also sealed the bottom half of the door trim to face panel. I'm not sure if it actually leaking at that point.
