Hey Sorry guys for the delayed response, I guess I am still a little confused I know I need to look at the numbers. If you go off the numbers I am ok I kinda agree that I dont want to run it to the max I would like a little buffer. I am new to the fiver world so I was kinda hoping for some reassurance and people just say "oh you have pleanty of truck" lol. I really appreciate the responses thanks again.

And yes, a longbed will probably do somewhat better than a shortbed (in fact I wonder what would be better, a SRW longbed or a DRW shortbed?) But again, I think any notions of some huge difference in braking ability between HD 3/4 and 1-ton pickups is not well supported, especially in the very common case where the hardware is virtually identical.
Well, point was, that more rubber on the road means .... more rubber on the road, better traction, better stopping. While being a neat vision... don't believe there is a DRW shortbed is there?

You're right, Steve. Dodge is the only truck available with dual rear wheels and a short box. In fact, Ford offers their "hitch preparation package" in the single rear wheel short box version, but when you go to the accessories section to order the hitch, it recommends NOT using the hitch with the short box. I suppose they install the hitch rails so you can use a gooseneck platform. The Ford fifth wheel hitch will fit, will function, but they recommend against it for some reason. At any rate, the only dually available in short bed is from Ram.

EDIT: OOPS! I just rechecked the description on the gooseneck hitch kit and it also has the comment, " To be used with 8' beds only". I don't know why Ford sells the bed rails as an option on the 6.5' bed and then says you can't use the hitch with the rails??? Hmmmmm
