Top 5 - Week 6

This week's Top 5 are dedicated to Kristi.

After a bit of a quiet spell, our members have once again stepped up to the plate and inundated the forum with an overabundance of posts; many of which are quite worthy for a spot on this coveted list. Actually, there were a couple of very strange and unusual submissions which took this author by complete surprise.

So, after being hounded and made fun of by a certain member for the past couple of weeks for not having Week 6 out on time, I offer these to you for your enjoyment:

Number 5: Actually, this post would make excellent material for Dr. Phil's TV program or a column in "True Confessions". No wonder this member is "striving for a less stressful life" when he tells us that it:

"might explain why I was married 4x to 3 different women.....marrying the same person a 2nd time and expect a different result. NOT!"

I love the ending to his tale of woe ..... "Of course, your mileage may vary..."

Number 4: My quest for arugula continues but it seems that now we will have to discard our thermometer that we use for cooking and start a new search for an Infrared Temperature Gun. One of our culinary-inclined members has this to say about this high-tech thermometer.

"These infrared things go for about $30 - well worth the cost. On a side note - we use it to get foods to the right temperature before eating - like soup".

Can you just picture your family sitting at the dinner table and hearing someone say, "Please pass the gun. I need to shoot my soup."
Using an infrared gun to take the temperature of soup? Really?

Number 3: A tie for 3rd spot goes to two animal posts. You've all heard about the excuse used by an 8th grader who doesn't have his homework done......"My dog ate it". Well here's a similar line from one of our own:

"The buzzards at my RV trim". Sure. Sure. But if you are in the Bastrop Lake area of Texas, you just might see this sign: "Beware of the Bastrop Buzzards".

Out in the Pacific Northwest in Oregon, they are blessed with hip raccoons. According to one Oregonian, "They love the nightlife. They like to boogie. Under lighting on the TT would just be a disco for them"!

Number 2: This member feels that being a husband is really tough especially being married to his wife who he says:

"she is still pestering me to buy a 333MKS."

As many other members have said on here numerous times, "I feel your pain."

Number 1: Not much doubt about this one. It has to be considered as one of the forum's weirdest threads. This award goes not only to the original poster but also to those who responded. Collectively, you've really outdone yourselves. I'm still wondering what, if anything, the thread has anything at all to do with RVing. The thread is, of course.......

"Peeing in the Shower"

Must have been written when a full moon was out.

Honourable Mention:
This post is not only dangerous but also scary......

"I know, here I go thinking again."

Have a good weekend and enjoy. (You too Kristi....)

I'm sorry, I find this post offensive every week. Making fun of people for asking questions or making statements. Is not funny. This forum is to help people become familiar with their RV and enjoy it more. No questions is a dumb one or funny. It may seem funny to you. That's fine but you shouldn't make fun of the people by having this list. Maybe some people, bought their unit used. So they didn't get the dealer walk through to understand everything. My last cougar I bought the salesman and I had a disagreement. So he basically told me to hook it and get out of his sight. So I didn't get a walk through. Fortunately it was my 3rd unit. what make these forums work is people helping each other. Not making fun of them.

Tbristol -
Well, I think you have completely missed the point of this thread and while you find it offensive, I am having difficulty understanding why you would feel that way - even after reading your above explanation. My intention is not to make fun of people, their posts or their questions. It is unfortunate that you have taken these Top 5 threads so seriously and find them offensive.

The thread is not intended to be helpful or informative nor is it intended to ridicule others for asking "dumb questions" or making statements. On the contrary, it is intended to provide a bit of frivolous, light-hearted humour - nothing more. No members' names are mentioned for obvious reasons and I have never received any negative feedback from members who have appeared on the list or from anyone else on the forum. To date, you are the first and only member who has voiced any concern or objection to the thread.

My only suggestion would be that if you find the "Top 5" that offensive, you simply give it a miss and move on to something that you find more informative, helpful and more acceptable to your taste.

Woot! Woot! #1!!

Yes I agree that if it wasn't for all the great posts from the great people here we never would have made it to the top

The top 5 is always a great weekly read!

Maybe it is just me,
or
Maybe because I am a moderator
and fear losing my highly sought after,
high paying job with awesome benefits;

but, I, personally, love getting this list
and I hope it continues cause I know I
need at least one good laugh a week !

Jo

Jo, If you think that flattering Festus2 will keep you out of the top five I think you are mistaken. On the other hand I have harassed him tirelessly and have not made the list either. Oh well .... too many adult beverages, now I have to go shower.

Heck, am just glad that I indirectly made it in this week's top 5 simply by contributing in the Peeing in the shower post. Keep the top 5 coming.

I do not feel offended, I lost that feeling many years ago, Some folks I have meet tried to offend me and thought they where better and smarter than me but, they still went to jail. You can repost anything I say on here anywhere and put my name on it if you want. This is just plan fun to read nothing more nothing less.

Beyond that, not once that I have seen have the top 5 included a honest question from a new member.

No idea what the complaint is about, but it isn't about these lists.

I'm just ticked I haven't made the list yet.

GMcKenzie -
There are so many new members joining the forum many of whom have honest questions so choosing one or two from this group would be really difficult. And by including such a question it would make the Top 5... well, just too honest.

Yes, I know that I am making enemies from folks on the forum who are becoming disgruntled because they haven't "made the list yet". Hang in there - your time will come.

The ability to laugh at your self is priceless, regardless of age, education or beliefs. If you pay attention to some of our best comedians you will notice that the majority of their humor relates to every day actions that we can all relate too - “HERE’S YOUR SIGN!”
As with the classic “roast” being selected as one of Festus’ top 5 for the month is becoming a badge of honor.
