I can't see it very well but around the windows it appears to be butyl tape?? I'm no help on repairing it, I've only replaced it.

That sure looks like butyl tape. A plastic scraper makes quick work of cleaning it up.

If there are low spots, just use the excess that you cut off and press it into the voids.

Can I use Proflex RV sealant over top of the butyl tape? I want to go around all the doors and windows to make sure we don't get any leaks and I'd like to be able to just cover up what's there, not have to remove anything.

I would say yes. I've used ProFlex to "bead out" all our running/tail lights. They all were installed with butyl putty tape under them. I trimmed the "squeezed out butyl", wiped with alcohol and ran a bead of ProFlex around each light. That was 5 years ago, still holding... Maybe it's unreliable (in the long run) but for the past 5 years and still no need to reapply...... Worked for me.

Thank you so much for your prompt reply. We have our trailer installed permanently at a trailer park and we are heading up there tomorrow to do maintenance/caulking because of a persistent leak. The metal trim on the main body of the trailer that frames where the kitchen slide comes out has that butyl tape stuff in it and we're thinking that's where the leak is after doing a test with the hose. So I was hoping to just use the proflex over all the seams and cross our fingers that that works.
I appreciate your input. Makes me feel better about doing it.

Butyl tape is relatively cheap. About $4 for a 30' roll of 1/8"x1" tape. If it was me, I'd pull the metal trim that you suspect, inspect the butyl tape that's on it. If there has been a leak, it will show up as water stains/dirty putty tape in the areas where the leak is active. I'd clean the old putty off the trim strip, reapply and reinstall the trim. Let it sit for a day in the sun, then trim any excess butyl tape and apply the ProFlex. I suppose your "one action fix" would work, but essentially it's only a "band aid" being laid over an active leak. It would be a more lasting and more reliable repair to fix the leak and then apply the "top sealant coat" as a "sure thing on top of a sure thing"...
