We are first time RV's and are looking into the 2012 Keystone 230RD, have a 2012 Tundra 5.7 but, not sure if the size is going to be to much for us to pull down the road, they are soooo tall!!! We have 2 big dogs we want to be able to crate inside at night. Any info would be great!!

HI To the forum. i am no expert in toyota's, but there is a group of tundra owners here. look in the community section and then social groups. and you may find your answer to the can i haul this question. just keep in mind the empty weight is just that, as shipped from the factory. no propane or battery(s). the general rule aroound here is that the dealer my not be your best source for that information. tire load range axel rating all figure into what you can haul as well as tounge weight. but the day is young and some one with experiance will most likely show up with sound advice. Welcome to the forum. There are quite a few of us towing with Tundras. I would also suggest you join one of the Tundra Forums as they can also be helpfull (of course not as helpful as the members on this forum.....). I tried locating your model, however had no luck. For comparison we are towing a Laredo 303TG (35ft) with ours. This is our 2nd season with it and to date have had no issues. There are a few things that I would like to add to the truck (airbags, tow rated tires), however haven't had any issues with towing.

Our 2012 Tundra 5.7 2W double Cab does have enough power to pull the Outback 230RD we found out from the Keystone dealer & Toyota.
I have only pulled a 16 ft horse stock trailer and it has been awhile, the new TT make me nervous with their new height's, I was wondering if we stay under 25 ft bumper to bumper should I feel less nervous about towing the trailer down the road??? Looking for the easiest size to tow don't want to buy a TT that will be unhappy with so...... if can anyone put my nerves to rest that would be SUPER!!! Open to all sugguestions

If you have had previous experience towing a horse trailer, it shouldn't take you long to adjust to pulling your TT. After awhile, you probably won't even know it is behind you. Your TV and TT seem to be a good match and I wouldn't be worried about the safety aspect of it.
The TT choice you have made should meet your needs with respect to floor plan and features. If you are happy with those two and you do have a good match with TT and TV, what is there to worry about?
The dogs? If you plan on leaving them inside the TT at night, you'll have to figure out the best sleeping arrangement for them and yourselves. I don't imagine they will be up front with you while driving during the daytime! You really didn't specify where they will be sleeping - in the TT or the TV.

With regards to towing, get a good hitch and find a vacant parking lot and practice backing up and other turns so you get the hang of it. With your previous horse-trailering, you'll be just fine. Relax. Enjoy.

Thanks for your advice & support, to much of a worry wort, I guess!!!
For the dogs....they will be crated in the Truck camper shell when we are driving and maybe even at night depends on what TT we end up with. Love the Outback Kargoroo but, there are so many other Keystone TT to check out too. Having fun searching for the right fit!!!
