Greetings Everyone!

Hello All!

We finally took home our new 2013 Keystone Cougar Xlite 28RBS the past Friday! The kids were so excited they slept in it all weekend.

I was pleased on how well our 2010 F150 (5.4L, 3.55, 4x4) handled some of the big hills on the 60 mile trip home and maintained a 55-60mph (tow-haul mode on all the time) speed. The Equalizer hitch was also put to the test with some big rigs passing in the opposite direction and didn't feel any sway . I also upgraded the tires to Milchelin M/S2 LT load E rated tires for added safety.

This is a huge upgrade for us as our Jayco was basically parked for 10 yrs at a park and we used the Rockwood pop-up for camping adventures in Ontario and the Atlantic Provinces. Looking forward to checking out the beautifull Western provinces and Yellowstone park some day. At a RV show in Jan a sales guy (ya I know sales guys will tell you just about anything to make a deal) told us out west the bears consider tent-trailers "bear sized zip-lock" bags...too funny but my DW wasn't laughing.

Anyway we had too many experiences setting up and tearing down the Rockwood in the rain and I kept telling myself this is part of the camping fun...well maybe too much fun, so we finally upgraded to this 32ft cooler on wheels.

Been reading the posts here since Jan 2013 and learned lots of great tips and info from seasoned RV'ers...so thank you all and its great to sign up.

...Chuck

Welcome Chuck! My DW made the decision for us to go from Hybrid to a Passport, due to the fact of the bears, and the ziploc statement made by others while we were searching for what direction to go. She wants to visit Montana and the Dakotas as well as Yellowstone. So the Passport was our final choice... Cougars were also on our short list, and my first decision, but we found a price and setup we couldn't resist with our TT...

Enjoy and as you've already seen, this forum is the best around when it comes to Keystones, and all the "trimmings" !!

Have fun!

Chuck -

I hope you eventually do get out to the western Provinces and especially to BC. We not only have large bears but also some very steep mountainous climbs which will put your TV to the test.

BTW, what the salesman told you about the bears is the absolute truth. But have no fear, you will be safe in your new hard-sided RV.

from the Far Side.

Thanks for the welcome!

Camping in our driveway is as good as it gets with his new unit

Our original upgrade path was a hybrid but as we toured the RV show we ended up with a case of "footitis" until reality set in ($$$ and our 1/2 ton limitations) and chose a dealer that gave us the best trade-in for our 2 units and got the RV show special that seems to be theme at these shows.

Well we're glad to finally see winter take a break here in southern Ontario, it was snowing here last weekend when I was preping our 29ft Jayco to be hauled away.

Looking forward to a short 2 day camping trip next weekend.

....Cheers

Cross country road trip

Well we just completed a 10,800km (6,480mi) camping trip to Banff AB, Jasper AB, Whistler BC, Tofino BC and Yellowstone Park WY !

We're happy to say our tow vehicle and Cougar 28rbs and performed just great and would do another 5 week road trip if it wasn't for the bills to pay off now

Cheers and happy camping all....
