Water heater not producing

I have a 2015 Bullet 220. Never had any problems with the water heater. Last weekend, hooked up to city water I only got hot water for a few seconds on electric or gas mode. If I have to replace heater is this a DIY project?

There are a few things to check first. Is there water in the tank? is the bypass turned to normal operaton? After that you need to check the inline pone way valve on the OUT fitting of the water heater, in the back TOP fitting.

Check that and get back for further instructions.

Check valve is new. Water comes out when I operate the pressure valve. Bypass valve is open, ie not in bypass mode.

"Operating the pressure valve", I assume you're talking about the pressure relief outside. I believe chucksters referring to the check valve on the top outlet on the back of the water heater.

Yep, I replaced that valve awhile ago and , up to now, has worked fine. I operated the pressure relief valve to verify I have water in the tank.

Ok. When you start it on propane, does it light? What does the flame look and SOUND like? How long does the flame run?

Not going to dish the electric side yet.

The furnace fires up immediately flames blue and sounds good. I tried running gas and electric simultaneously but no real change. This is the first time I've run the heater on gas as I camp at camp grounds with full hook ups and always run electric. When i winterized last year i had water flowing through the heater in bypass and in "on". I pulled the check valve and found the plastic piston could jam in mid position. I think i need to check the water flow through the hot water tank.

I think I would pull that check valve again and see if it malfunctioned or it got clogged some way.

I agree. It’s cheap enough to just replace.

I agree and I want to check the 3 way valve too. Thanks for your feedback.

Have had flow since replacing the check valve? Possibly installed backwards?
