Jim and Brenda.....I'm so sorry for your loss....they become SUCH a part of our families and the hurt and pain is great when they are gone. It sounds like he had a great life with you guys and I sure he enjoyed every single minute of it.....even as active as he was....

No, no, don't be sorry for us. He lived a superb life and his time had simply come. I don't want to turn this great thread in a different direction, I love hearing about everybody's pets.
We seem to be getting more and more RV'ers who travel with cats and some with birds these days. We have had two different ladies who walked their cats on a leash this year. (A positively mortifying thought for most cats!)

Don't get me wrong, we've had pets forever, but when we decided to go fulltime we thought it was better to be petless. If we decided to leave the rv for day or 2 there was no need for a petsitter or kennel. And if gone for the day & pets NOT welcome where we go don't have rush back to let the dog out.
Inquiring minds want to know!!
We have 5 because that’s how many needed a home I guess. We really haven’t gone out and looked for a dog since the redbone. They all kinda happened. Mr. Simms was dumped at the shelter by family when their dad died. Has cancer, but we will give him some good years.

But Agee, as they pass we won’t go past 1-2. We own a dog daycare/kennel so the big ones do stay when we travel some, but all 5 go camping.

We have a total of 3 medium sized dogs +-50lbs first dog was planed second rescue, third came with oldest son when he moved back to house. I set 3 as the limit due to size of dogs, house and yard. Inlaws have 4 toy poodles in a bigger house same size yard. So for us it all has to do with the size of dog and square footage available. We probably would have got a smaller trailer if we didn't have the dogs, but they are considered family and go with us every where we can take them. The exception is when we travel by air to the lower 48 they stay home.

Both are rescue pups;

Lucy is our Shepherd mix, she's about 9 and nearly deaf.
Marcie is our chihuahua mix, she's about 5 and definitely the lap puppy.

The "TWO DOG RULE" is a necessity when cold weather camping! They make great foot-warmers! LOL When it's real cold... it's a Three Dog Night!

Ava end Emma even let us stay in the camper too!

The camping hamster - Maya. We’re just a little different. No dog, and the cat and horses stay home when we go camping, so far. The hammy, well, she seems to like camping and enjoys her time outside in her little fenced “yard” in the grass too - with us watching her of course!

So way too many to show all but here are three. Dylan, the long coat, Teddy strutting his stuff at a dog show in Phoenix last year, and one of the puppies.

My thinking is there is a symbiotic relationship between humans and Dogs, Horses, and Cats. I cannot imagine a life without them and honestly believe that to be truly human you need to closely interact with another species.

JMO, not that there is anything wrong with that.

Symbiotic? I call them the perfect parasite! They win their way into your hearts and we vow to give food, shelter and best health care, clean up after them, in exchange for love (not much output from them) Dogs have it figured out but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
