Why do so many like IPA beer?

Been some
Complaints of non-lively thread. So I’m going to through out some gripes.

I live in small brew capital of somewhere and for the life of me I cannot understand why IPA beer is sooo popular. It’s nasty bitter to me. I’ve tried and tried different varieties just to find one that I can at least get past my tongue.

I’m not a big beer drinker (me and JW black are buddies) but I’ll try beer when out with friends since brew pubs are everywhere along with tap houses/food carts.

Any suggestions on a good IPA? Or they as nasty to everyone else?

Try Alexander Keith's IPA brewed in Nova Scotia. I'm a dyed in the wool vodka guy but when I drink beer this is a favourite. Supposed to be something in IPA that's good for you?

Have no idea about a good IPA. Only tried one once when my son suggested it...haven't again and won't. I like beer (a couple of brands) and that's it. IPAs and local "craft" brews all seem like every Tom and Jerry wants to try their hand at making "mom's apple pie" but have no idea of what they are doing.... JMO/YMMV as I'm sure it will.

I like New England IPAs not regular ones. Wheezin Juice is really good. M-43 is another good one.

I don't care for any beer, but I will take a good hard cider any day of the week.

Love beer, not an alcoholic, maybe have 3 a week, more when camping.
I like the european beers. Stella, Grolsch, Guinness, Harp etc. In Canadian beer I like Steamwhistle, that's about it, LOL... American beer, I like Rolling rock, coors banquet, PBR, and in Mexican beer, Dos Equis. What I don't like, are micro breweries that think they can make good beer, when all they make is a cheap adult beverage.
My daughter and son in law work for Beau's brewery in Ontario, it's swill. lmao
He tells me he can't understand why the company can't get a lot bigger, I told him the secret. You make one beer, you perfect it, people love it, you need a bread and butter beer before you start to satisfy hipsters. Not that there's anything wrong with hipsters, they make me crave Civil war movies.

Bouy brewing makes a pretty solid IPA.. its the india pale ale ipa and 7.5% so its a decent buzz after 2 or 3.. usually intermix some pilsners to offset the higher abv.. i like the taste for this IPA compared to others.. you can find it at winco sometimes or safeway.

I thought it was just me!

IPA’s suck, remember the old story -The King has No Clothes - that’s exactly what is going on with IPA’s. Hipsters and millennials drink it and think it’s great because they’re paying 12 bucks a pint. And the guys brewing it tell them it’s great because they want the money. It’s like the wine they sell now that everyone thinks is so worth the money- sheep following each other over the cliff.

Sierra Nevada Torpedo would be my IPA of choice, but I'm also inclined to try the local when out of town. I don't drink IPA's often. Usually I stick with the brands from our patio: Budweiser, Yuengling, Leinenkugel, Grain Belt. Why Grain Belt you ask? Well, there are some of us out there with odd tastes. And it was big when growing up in Wisconsin.
Three things in my beer tastes: NOTHING lite, no fruit flavors, and nothing thick and sticky.
Speaking of thick and sticky, while vacationing in Australia some years ago, DW and I were having a Heineken and talking to the bartender. Another at the bar mentioned Guinness and the bartender said "That's tourist beer, mate. Nobody here drinks that s--t."

Trendy, same reason why pet rocks, finger spinners, etc. became overnight sensations. Not that some micro breweries aren't excellent but some folks just follow the crowd, others lead the crowd so discern which person is making the recommendation. JMHO

I'll be the voice for dark and sticky. Yum. Guinness Draft is good everyday dark and my favorite is Dark Truth Stout by Boulevard Brewing.

I like craft beers, but do not like IPA's. Prefer a stout (I like Guinness) or darker beer.

Worked for a short time for a brewery that had a beer with 3 times the hops in it. Big trendy thing at the time that I couldn't drink for the life of me. It is still around (worked there maybe 15 years ago), but I tend to avoid that brewery. Only good beer they have gets ruined by adding fruit to it for some damn reason.

I love IPA's. I don't love the cost. Even with the higher ABV %, I would drink them like they were light beer. That hoppy taste is for me. I also love Guinness.

Ciders, fruity flavors & sours are really the only types I do not like at all.

I tend to not drink the same thing all the time. Beer, red wine, scotch, vodka, and whiskey are on my typical menu.

I've actually cut down on the beer in past few months because my triglycerides were super high, so now vodka tonics have become my camping drink of choice the last few times out.

I will drink just about any beer. (Bud gives me a headache) But why on earth anyone would add fruit to it is beyond my educated palette. I had a neighbor give me a beer he said was the best thing he ever tasted .... GRAPEFRUIT BEER !!!!!! I think I insulted him when I told him he was crazy. I did however find Kentucky bourbon barrel ale very tasty and potent.

Try a Greenhook AKA Redhooks 'Long Hammer IPA' it is smoother than most.

I drink IPA's mostly with Sierra Nevada Torpedo being a favorite. As long as it is not wheaty, I like IPAs.
