Most people overlook axel radio If you look at the towing specs on your new vehicle you can add more towing capacity by going to a lower ratio than the larger motor. The lower ratio also helps with breaking. If you must Tow with a 1/2 Ton truck insist on a 4:10 Axel or at a min. 3:73 also remember if you over size tires that will subtract from this ratio. I have a Silverado 1500 with A 4:10 axel and 6.0 that is rated higher than some 3/4 ton models I find most dealers do not like to order tucks with the lower ratio I would insist on it if you plan to tow just my 2 cents
