Second pump switch

I had the pump switch out and wires connected and ready for the second switch to turn the pump on from the bathroom . It seem easy I don't get electric. Will one switch be off and one be on to make contact with the pump? It seems inline second switch might be right .

If you took your power for the second switch from the hot side (or upstream) of the original switch and there is a separate wire from the load side of each switch to the pump, then the pump will get power from whichever switch is turned to the "on" position. If the second switch is wired in series, or "downstream" from the original switch, then both switches will have to be in the "on" position for the pump to work.

jsmith948 is correct. Just remember that if connected in series the second switch would be useless as both would have to be in the on position to work. In a parallel circuit you can turn it on via either switch but both would have to be in off position to turn the pump off. You could use a household 3 way switch but you would have to run another wire from one switch to the other. My question is why? Why not leave the pump on? It should shut off when then the water usage is zero.

I would guess added safety precaution to prevent flooding the RV in the case of a malfunction or leak.

When I leave my camper I turn off the pump or the city water.
