As a former master electrician who got sick of working for a living and went back to college to get a EE I don't use a surge anything. The electric control box has breakers.
As to a surge protector saving your butt, how do you know? Because your surge protector said so?
Have you ever put a recorder on the input to your house? You think you are getting 115 volts he laughs.
If it makes you happy go for it.

Linux, I remember when you were new and towing with an Explorer? You have progressed a lot. To tell folks that use surge protectors they are useless and they have a "control panel" with breakers is ill informed.

Having seen "breakers" let things melt; equipment be fried etc. I can assure you that the EMS control systems DO make a huge difference; especially given the types of locales that RVers get into. NO, the breakers in the RV are not the best protection for anything you have in the RV.

Have I put a recorder on the RV in all of the places I go to? No. Have I used them in the past in another life? Yes. They have no relevance in an RV park environment...none. I, as many others, have had my EMS save my bacon multiple times. The breakers are going to save you? Please. If you are that confident in those $2 breakers in your RV to save you or your "stuff", good for you....but I'm not and no one else should be either.
