How to use the outdoor storage
I did some searching but I'm not sure what you call that space.
Newbie, about to go on our first trip.
Passport 195RB.
In the front, the exterior storage that runs side to side.
How worried should I be about stuff shifting in there? I want to store some 5/4 boards that I will use for leveling. They are 5' long and I have 4 of them.
Is there some way to tie them down?
Should I just not worry about it?

Are they really 5 foot long? Not sure why you would need them that long. If they are, depending on what else you put in there you will be able to reach them from either sides. I don't have any that long I use the big Lego blocks except when I only need an inch or 1.5" then I use jack pads or 2x8 pieces about 10" long under each tire. If you want you could put brackets in to stack them in a single place but you probably won't need it once you load other stuff in there. Have fun.

Buy yourself a set of Anderson Levelers. You won't regret it. Get rid of the boards. Unless of course you are camping on some serious slopes.

1. The pass thru is referred to as the basement by most of us.
2. As already suggested you only need a few 2x8's about a foot long, or a commercially available block set. Don't forget, You usually only need to raise one side a few inches, and usually one tire will do it as long as you're not lifting the other tire clear off of the ground. (Easy way to change a flat, by the way.)
My advice is to store them where you can get to them first. That way you don't unload everything only to find out that you can't level where you're parked, after everything is already out.

I keep two long boards for leveling, but usually only need one. This way I can raise both tires equally. Short boards would do the same so that is an option and up to you.
You're original question was how to store them. I just slide mine in the basement and usually turn them up on edge to take up less space. They have never moved. My opinion is you really don't need to do anything special. Some have built hanging racks attached to the ceiling of the basement area. They look nice but are not necessary. JMHO's.

I keep mine (mixture of 1X8 and 2X8) in the bed of my pick-up, 1/2 on one
side the other 1/2 on the other. Easy as pie.

I like the Anderson levels..... Maybe.
The reason I have 5 foot boards is that's the distance needed to raise both tires.
Maybe I should use shorter ones but as I said I'm a newbie.
My wife and I are leaving Thursday for our first outing so...

You can use shorter boards. If you need to raise both wheels, just put one short board under each. This make it easier to store.
Also, don't forget, one board under just one wheel will raise the camper 1/2 as much as a board under each wheel. This is for fine leveling. After a few times you will do it without thinking.

Most if not all manufacturers recommend raising both tires.
Andersen Levelers are great. You need two sets for double axel.

Put 2 carpet scraps in there, things won't slide, and if you can't reach something, just pull it out with the carpet!

I have to second it with the Anderson Levelers. Finally bit the bullet and bought 2 before we left on this trip. Been using them for 2 weeks where needed, love them! So glad we left the Lego blocks behind and used these. Take up less storage room in the basement and easy to use.

Pull Toy, Please tell me more about "easy way to change a tire". How far off the ground do you have to raise one tire for the second tire to come off the ground?

I found a video for the Anderson levelers and the Rapid Jack. It showed how to get the second tire off the ground. Pretty cool. Think I've found my next must have gadget. Should be much less weight than the 12 ton bottle jack I carry. Thanks for the tip.

Just got back from our 5 night maiden cruise.
I like having the 2 ea. 5' boards plus I have a selection of short boards. The 2 long boards leveled my trailer just right.
Thanks, I just slid them in the basement and all was well.

You might want to go to the local transient RV park and talk to an old duffer or dufferette about how they deal with the trailering experience. They'll show show you the necessary and unnecessary doodads and how they use them. Pick what works for you and accessorize accordingly.
There's a lot of knowledge on this forum that will help cement your techniques and procedures for the trailering experience. Do some searches and view some threads. Helped me get into the swing of things.
Even though there really are really stupid questions, don't be afraid to ask them.
