Ramp patio kit is it worth it?

I am looking at buying a FZ331 in the spring and thought the patio kit was a really cool idea. Now I am thinking is it worth it? Every time you leave your sight you have to put it up seem like it would be a neat thing at first but may get old setting up and taking it down every day. As I would be using the garage as a bed room for my kids and would want it closed at night. I did see a model not sure which one it was but it had a side patio with a side door that looked better because you can leave the patio out and still secure you camper when you are out and about. Is that an option you can get on any 5er? Any thoughts?

I just picked up our Raptor a couple of weeks ago that was special ordered for that reason. I did not want the patio option because I did not think that the $4400 cost was worth it. I live in Texas and we very seldom have days where it would be nice to use. A couple of lawn chairs is good enough for us. Besides, ours came with two awnings so we need to get the use out of them.

I was thinking the same thing if we had more lakes around that we could back up to maybe it would be worth it but like you here in Las Vegas not going to get as much use as I think it would. It just looks cool. Un less some can really sell it to me I think we are going to skip this option when it comes time to order it.

I guess everyone's different. We have it and use it almost everywhere we go. I'm not sure if we have the simplest style or not on our Raptor 300mp but it takes no more than 5 minutes or so to set up or take down so that's not an issue. That includes the railing and rear awning.

Certainly don't use it often, but over a river or other body of water, it sure is a nice feature!

For $4400 dollars I don't think I would get my money back on that upgrade. I don't have it and have not wish I had it up to this point, so that tells me that it is not necessary for the way I camp. I was looking at new Fuzions 2 weeks ago and every one on the lot had the patio feature. All the ones that didn't were sent to their other store.

Here in CA, where we do our camping, the mosquitoes are thick as thieves right now. The only way I see to get out to the patio ramp is from the trailer. You couldn't leave the rear roll up screen up or your trailer would be full of the blood suckers and other insects. That means that anytime someone wants to come and go from the ramp patio they would have to open and close that rear screen. So much for keeping the bugs out. Sounds like more work than benefit. Put me in a chair by the fire or under a shady tree in a hammock. Not in a an oversized play pen.

Crash,

I like your set up dose the side patio have a door to close off the patio from the camper?

The patio kit should come with some sort of steps you can attach to the ramp so you can walk on & off the patio with out going through the garage. I think when it comes time for me to order mine and if they have what I want on the lot Maybe I can talk them into taking that 4K off the price seeing how they ordered it that. Never hurts to try..

Nice I started taking our Lab and German shepard camping with us and now soon as they see the camper in front of the house they go crazy and the patio would be nice for them to have a little more freedom without being tied up they have slipped our hands a time or two wanting to go play with other dogs.

I have the same model as crash but without the rear deck. Kind of wish we had gotten it though. We do use our garage as a bedroom for our two boys, so it would be an up and down situation and might get old but then again a had a popup before this with an add a room on the awning I used all the time. I have considered adding the deck to ours but its a bit pricey and would like to spend the money elsewhere first...

Yea our 2 can see our small tote bags that we take back and fourth from the house and camper and they go crazy knowing they are going camping ,they just love it,and our boarder collie will take off if she gets a chance too, on the other hand our bulldog dont have the desire to go no where fast

I have not seen a Bulldog that is ever in a rush to go anywhere. I am just torn should I or should I not. I know its easier to absorb that price when it’s all ready on when you buy than it is to come up with the $4K after the fact. Well I have time to think.

Thumbs up

Yea I am already sold on the six point leveling system, not only for the ease of set up but the stability of the camper. I also like that you can use it to jack the camper up if you get a flat.

Our Fuzion Touring Edition came with the kit. We set it up once and simply remove the poles and shut the ramp door. Then replace the poles the next day. Our boxer uses the patio as a playpen and the AC stays on in the screen room and cools fairly well if the temp is below 90.
Ginger has figured out that she can relax in the AC or lie in the sun.
We also use the garden hose and a sprayer to cool the patio deck and it often ends with people stopping to watch our side show. Ginger runs through the water and attacks the spray. The folks at OceanLakes had a ball laughing at her antics this summer!

2nd the six point, have it on mine. Also, 2nd the circus freak show, I think it's more the side deck than anything else, I don't have the rear deck and people always come by to talk about the side deck. It was a great addition, just wish they had centered it under the awning.
