Toy Hauler Ramp Door Hinges

I bought a 2009 Energy toy hauler new and have used four times and and found that the hinges on the bottom of the door are coming through the door and splitting the Styrofoam padding that is between the outside skin and the rubberized floor mat on the interior of the door. Company who built door went out of business so unable to get a replacement door. Anyone else had that problem and what did you do to correct it? Afraid to drive my ATV on the door for fear that the hinges will break.

Fuzion doors are made by http://www.lci1.com/ check with them to see if potentially you could get a custom door.

Get a strip of aluminum checker plate and fasten it to door UNDER the spring to support and spread load.

Same Issue

I am having the same issue with my 2009 Energy. I have contacted my dealer and they put in a claim with Keystone and it was denied. Have you contacted Keystone so they know this is an issue? What was your remedy?

I would cut a piece of diamond plate and put a section on the inside and outside to reinforce the hinges.

My 2008 Raptor door did the same, I took the door off. Found out the wood piece inside was rotten was about six inches tall. Under built in my opinion. I carefully removed that board and the foam about 14" high. I GLUE 3 layers of outdoor plywood together, slipped it up inside the door, glued, clamped it. Then I added two foot strips of a heavy gauge aluminum plate on the hinge areas on both sides OG the door and bolted them together. It worked out well. It may not look original but I saved about $2500 to put another door on, that would probably be the same as the original. And do the same thing. Hope this helps

That seems like the best solution.

I'm thinking these trailers in general are like ST tires in that they only have a set lifetime and should be replaced before they time out. Rolling, self-destructing earthquakes...

Hi Bradley Scheirer,

Do you have any pictures of your Raptor Door fix? It would be very helpful, I have a 2007 Raptor I need to re-enforce/fix.

Thanks,

Scott

In lieu of door replacement I just did the same thing to my 3602 Raptor. Could not believe how poor the ramp door interior design is/was. Without the repair, I am not so sure that the ramp would have supported a motorcycle loading event.

Sorry I don't have any pics as I have since sold the camper.

I see that you are in Macclenny, you can call Rick Baker RV in Green Cove as he is the guy that did the repair on mine.

Instead of inserting bonded plywood we used a piece of pressure treated 2 x 10 for the insertion inside the door and to ensure that the hinges had a solid foundation, then capped it off with diamond plate both inside and outside the door.

You're not going to like it but they're all junk, all of them. Find the floor plans, options, and colors you like and never look back. Enjoy it but be prepared for maintenance, it doesn't matter if it's an 80k triple axle toy hauler or a pull behind hybrid.
