Fresh water question

I have a 2019 22RBS and wondered if there was a way to add fresh water without having to hook up to a faucet. I've seen on youtube that some brands have a way to suck water in using the onboard water pump. I don't seem to have that ability unless I'm missing something. Thoughts?

Welcome to the forum!!
I suspect the videos you watched are for “winterizing” an RV by pumping RV antifreeze into the fresh water system. RV water pumps are not set up to pump water INTO the fresh water tank, only OUT OF.

I’m thinking you have the connection for a hose and a valve handle for either “tank fill” or “city water”. Adding water from a non pressurized source is not easy.

ya that now brings up sub questions 1) how do I pull in antifreeze? and 2) the videos were of people who ran out of fresh water and were adding more from store bought jugs. They had a grand design imagine trailer. I was curious if I had the same functionality.

thanks for the reply

You'd have to install a winterization kit if you don't already have one.

The Rube Goldberg approach might then be to suck store bought water into your system via the newly installed winter kit until pressure is built up. Then use a hose connected to your outdoor shower to connect to your fresh water intake. Then keep pumping until you run out of one gallon bottled water. A gallon of antifreeze gets emptied in under a minute I'd expect the same for water.

My brother drives into town and fills up a bladder with water. Back at camp he uses a small 12 volt water pump to transfer the water.

I've seen a video that Dacks14 may be talking about. The pipes were modified and a couple of valves put in place that allowed the pump to be used to pull water into the tank. The RV didn't come that way from the factory.

Grand Design “imagine” trailers have both a valve for city water/ fresh fill and a separate “gravity” fill port. If you don’t have the gravity fill port then no you don’t have that functionality.

Are you camping in the boonies? If not, I'd find a spigot and have at it. At a dollar a gallon and lots of work you'll spend a lot of cash and lots more personal energy trying to do what you're thinking. In my mind, it wouldn't be worth it.

Bought a transfer pump from harbor freight 12 volt. Works great. Just need hoses and keep it primed.
