campground storage?
good day folks!
we are already planning for our trip next winter to the Florida Keys and my plan is to bring the 5er somewhere in North or South Carolina before winter. The 5er is stored at my property up north and the road become icy and too dangerous in late November so I need to haul it out of there right after hunting season.
So my question to you is; would it be better and safer to find a campground that offer long term storage? We would stay there a few days in November and in January when we head south.
or find a secure storage facility?
The problem around here with public storage is that you can't have access to your 5er in the middle of winter because they don't clear the snow around the trailers.
thanks!
JL

Typically storage facilities and camp grounds that offer storage prohibit staying in a camper while in storage. In my thinking the cost of transporting it that distance both in $ and time, and the unit being so far away would offset the cost of indoor storage for a few months.

I know there's 2-3 nice rv parks in Mrytle Beach that have long term storage & will move your rv into/off a lot for you. Don't know any prices for storage or moving.
Try Ocean Lakes, Lakewood, & if I recall Pirates Landing all in Mrytle Beach.

Use Willow Tree CG in Longs SC. 10 minutes from North Myrtle Beach. A family operation and great customer service. They will move it on/off a site for $7.50. Nice large sites.

Those who live on the coast may prove me wrong, but if I was leaving my camper in storage away from home for a few months I would look into moving further inland. The salt air would have to do some damage to your trailer, especially thinking of the ac.

We spent the month of March 2 years in a row in Port Arkansas Texas, the 1st year we had 2 new bicycles, by the time we left at the end of the month the bicycles had rusted badly & appeared to be years old. I did rinse regularly & kept the chains lubed, but spokes & handle bars were very rusted.
Totally agree, would not store mine anywhere near the coast.

We travel to Myrtle beach in the fall and stay a couple of weeks. We then store it in the Myrtle Beach area (Tippy Tow) until our stay in Feb and March. Cost is $40/month. Myrtle beach travel park will store it for $70/month. Myrtle Beach Travel Park will pull it away from the site and return it when you return to the travel park. You have to drop it off and pick it up at Tippy Toe because it is considered temp. storage.
We do this because we do not want to tow in the winter.
We stay at pet friendly motels on the way home in the fall and return trip in Feb.
