Addtional Bathroom Cabinet

With a nod to SLOW here....thank you for the inspiration, advice and plans. Our carpenter didn't do it exactly the same, but SLOW's help and advice was invaluable. We thank you.

We told our friend, Jim Mossman, what our goal was, extra storage in the bathroom of our 23RB, over the toilet without being in the way, without standing out as too odd. Just wanted a few extra shelves for things so we could use the main cabinet for toiletries. Jim suggested the type of wood, also advice on the hardware and latches. Here is the result! We are quite pleased with it. 20 days until our travel begins again. Can't wait to use it! Thanks SLOW and Thanks Jim!

Nice. Looks straight and all.......maybe he can work for Keystone. They need help in the alignment and fit-finish quality department

Nice job Jim!!! Looks beautiful!

I am considering the same thing in the bath of my Laredo. My bath though over the toilet is an angular challenge. Hopefully will give it a try over the next couple months.

What were the suggestions on materials?

Thanks,
Mike

I don't know if Jim is a member of this forum to post answers, so we'll try to answer for him. He used hard maple for the wood that we got from a local lumber yard. The hardware we chose with his oversight....was just brushed nickel to match the rest of the hardware in the trailer as closely as possible. He used RV latches that we got from Amazon. I don't know he if had drawn up plans or just fly by the seat of his pants, Griz, but if you're interested, I can find out and PM them to you. Slow shared his plans with us, but I didn't want the under cabinet that Slow did. Nothing wrong with HD cpaulson, glad it worked for you.

Thanks for all your comments!

Rich...thanks for input. I'll need to get my "angle measuring thing-a-ma-jig" out to accurately measure angles needed before starting my over the toilet cabinet project.

Making an angled cabinet start first with a card-board template to get the exact fit needed

Very nice cabinet! My wife is bugging me for some bathroom storage upgrades but I’m worried about how to hang things. How did you do it?

We used wall screws, found the studs, pilot hole and drilled them in. 3 at the top, 4 in the supports under shelves, 2 on each. Can take some close up photo's of the top "bar" where its attached if that would help.

Some up close pictures of the mounting. He used the top stud, picture #1, complete with sawdust. Opps. Then used screws on the 'left' side of the cabinet, again, lining up with the stud. It is very solid, have pulled on it and tried to "rattle" it but its firm. Its goes down the road in 2 weeks....I'll let you know if it doesn't stay up.

Looks very nice. I found one of those cabinets that sets on the floor with legs that hold the cabinet above the WC. Its only 8" deep, so it should not be a head banger. My concern was with strictly wall mounting. I just don't know how strong the wall behind the WC is, so I elected to go with the floor mount. I did extend the legs to get the cabinet higher, to avoid the head bonking. Along with fastening it to the wall to prevent tipping.
