Mosquitos
Just wondering what do you use around your campsite to keep the mosquitos away?

We use a propane fogger around the trailer and a generic type "yard guard" if they are especially bothersome. We also have a 12x12 Coleman screen room that serves as a "refuge" when needed. In the boat, we use the spiral wrist bracelets. They seem to work as long as there's no wind to blow the aroma away from the boat.

Take HW with me. I’m evidently “sour” and they love her!
In all truth, we bought some bracelets of Amazon and they seemed to work good.
I also have bought the UV sunblock sleeves and neck (Blackstrap) and put the in a zip lock, then spray a bunch of deep wood off in there and seal tight till I need them.
Or used the neck to cover my face, no deep woods. California says it causes cancer

Mosquitos
My best defense is to stick close to DW because they chew her to bits and leave me alone! Same topic came up on another forum last week and several folks suggested the Thermocell devices. We bought a personal device for her to carry around and and one that looks like a lantern for the porch - but both will travel with us when we camp. So far she gives it good reviews.

The thermocell units seem to work well. They seem to like the wife better then me too . When i was young and going to school , I worked several summers on the railroad fixing track on the prairies. The water beside tracks was a breeding haven for mosquitos. I was bit so many times that I don't even get a bump anymore when they do bite? So maybe they bite me more then i think. LOL

Alaskan mosquitos are the size of a Piper Cub and will carry you away. Two simple solutions are baby oil and Bounce dryer sheets they don't like either, they may buzz around you but will not bite. A Mosquito patch which is basically a heavy dose of Vitamin B1 Thiamine is another solution. I use a combination of all three of these working in the Oilfield . I put a dryer sheet in my hard hat, a patch on my arm and baby oil for exposed skin
In case you didn't know only the females bite

We live on the Texas Gulf coast Mosquitos are an issue 8-10 months out of every year.
I have used multiple products but the one that has really worked is a product called EM-1 I spray weekly throughout the yard. It helps the plants builds up the soil with microbial activity and I even use it in my rainwater barrels no mosquitos. Even my husband is a believer. He can work on his truck at dusk and not get bit. It can be purchased on Amazon -- you don't need much about an 1/8th of a cup to quart. Spray the ground. For a quick fix mouthwash and castille or murphy's oil soap (1/8 c murphys fill a quart bottle with cheap mouthwash) . This also deters those pesky red paper wasps and won't harm butterflies or beneficials

We've setup a box fan blowing on us and it does a good job. As mentioned by others, Smokey fires, citronella candles, and any repellent with DEET works well too.

We use Murphy's Mosquito Sticks | Plant Based DEET Free Insect Repellent Incense Sticks | Bamboo Infused w/Citronella, Lemongrass & Rosemary | 12 Sticks per Tube and in the worst case Deep Woods Off or Repel.

We stay in BC during mosquito season. Moved here from northern Ontario partly because the bugs were so bad there. I have not been bit in the 20 months we have been here and I don't think there are any black flies either. We will travel to Newfoundland in a couple of years and for some time we will be in mosquito territory. What works is DEET as strong as you can buy (I still have 1 bottle of 100%) and that Avon product that works.

We love our bug zapper. There's something very satisfying hearing it go off.

Avon's skin so soft is worth its weight in gold. I have been in jungles and swamps around the world works great , don't know about the great Alaskan blood suckers.
