A typical 150 watt "cigarette plug" inverter is about $16 on Amazon and with the 20% off coupon, less than that at Harbor Freight. I haven't seen a 2000 watt inverter for less than $200 in years. Just to run a 24" TV and possibly a "base model DVD player" the $16 inverter is all he'd need.
Now if he's going to invest in a "multi battery solar system" or ????? Then yup, a "high power/high dollar inverter" would be nice to have, but without the battery system to support it, he wouldn't get much TV time. It takes juice to light all those LED's and turn the fan on a big inverter.
