Looking to buy our first fifth wheel, either the 28SGS or 29RET X-Lites. TV is a 2014 F250 Supercab SB, 6.2L 4WD. Wife and I looking forward to just getting away from time to time and some future long trips.

Welcome to the forum and to Keystone RVing.

We have a Cougar XLite 27RKS, very close in weight and length to the two models you're considering. We tow with a 2013 F250 supercab LB 6.2L. Mileage is between 8-10 depending on speed and wind (seems we always wind up with a headwind) LOL

Anyway, you'll be fine with either of your potential choices. Here's hoping you'll find the perfect RV soon and start enjoying the lifestyle.

Welcome to the forum.

We have a fifth wheel, about 32 feet, model 291RLS (2007 model)
and we pull with our 2003, 7.3L diesel and it pulls great.

We have traveled allover the country - over hill and dale - and enjoyed every
minute of it.

Hope to see you soon on the fiver forum!

Jo

Let me try to help you with your choice. We have a 28SGS, 2013 model. Overall quility - I would rate "Good/Very Good". But I can only compare to our former TT (not a Keystone product) which was "poor,poor,poor".

Like;

Location of TV/Ent. system. Good viewing from chairs & sofa.

Good kitchen counter space.

Lot of windows (light) in seating area.

Dis-likes;

Queen bed is a Camper Queen (60"x75"). Would love to have a Full Size Queen (60"x80") I am 6'-2" tall. "Future Mod".

If I was to factory order I would delete the carpet in the living area. very cheep carpet.

Our unit only has a 10' awning.

Things I've Changed/Added;

LED Bulbs in most interior lights.
LED Step light on exterior steps.
Battery cutoff switch.
Slideout Awnings.
"Progressive" Electric Management System (EMS).

And yes I am the "LumpyOatmeal" that responded to you on another Forum.

Smile 28SGS Question

@XLITE28SGS.... Thank you for the detailed review. We're tending to lean towards the 29RET at the moment with booth seating/sleeping instead of the table and chairs due to the grandkids coming sometimes.

Welcome from SE VA! We just bought our Cougar 33RES with the booth seating this past June. We're loving it! We also have grandkids that will be with us sometimes, but even when it's just us, the booth is much more comfortable than the chairs we had in our last tt. Good luck with your purchase. Keep us posted on your choice...preferably with pictures

We feeling the same about the table and chairs but are having a hard time locating a 29RET with the booth. The Keystone district sales manager is trying to locate one for us to see. We're also questioning why we can't order one of the Western 1/2 Ton models, 283RETWE, which has the same basic floor plan but being a few inches longer. We are in no rush and willing to wait for the right FW.

The dinette is becoming a pretty standard upgrade on most trailers. So much so that it's getting hard to find one with the booth. I have to admit, we love ours. The booth is nice for added sleeping capability, but I still prefer the dinette.

The other thing that is becoming very common is the king size bed. Still wish ours had the queen with night stands. The king is nice for sleeping, but takes up a lot of bedroom space.
