Bullet Premier 19FBPR Potential Modification

[/B][/B]
My wife and I purchased a 2014 Bullet Premier 19FBPR a little over a year ago. We love every thing about the purchase except there is not comfortable seating. We are considering removing the table and seating booth, which appears to be screwed to the walls and floor, and purchasing two swivel recliners. Do any of you have any coaching for me regarding this modification?

This is our first RV and we love it. We are planning a two month trip in the early spring and if we like it and are still married after the trip, we likely would upgrade to a 5th wheel.

Only my opinion, but if I was figuring on moving to another unit any time soon, I would leave it alone. It may have a detrimental affect on the trade-in value.

I took half our dinette out and replaced it with a euro chair. For the two of us it works out great but we also have a couch. I feel what you are thinking would work. Good luck. John

It will most likely work and be good for you but if there is no table to eat at, I agree the trade in could be an issue. Enjoy your trip.

Given the fact that it's less than 2 yrs old, and you intend to upgrade soon, I agree with Chuckster: "leave it alone".

Removing the u-shaped dinette not only eliminates the only eating area, but also the 2nd bed -and- a big portion of the
interior storage in a small trailer. Chances are most buyers would consider those items "necessary".

Just my 2 cents, of course...

We agree with leaving it alone. Ours came without the drawers under the seats, and we intentionally added them for needed storage. To our way of thinking, your upgrade of seating would really be a downgrade to potential future buyers. Maybe there's a way you could make it more comfortable in another way. Maybe an upholsterer could change out the cushions. One person on this forum added legs to the two-post table so that the table wouldn't have to sit in a specific place. We find the table to be the most uncomfortable thing about the seating arrangement - it can be hard to get in and out. But, ahhh, those drawers!

Like others, I wouldn't take out the dinette. For ours, we use extra pillows and sometimes bring in one of our zero gravity lounge chairs. The slide goes out far enough that there is room for it between the dinette and kitchen.

19 Premier upgrading

what we do is turn the dinette table so it's only supported by one post and support the long side over the back U-bench with some over stuffed pillows for the wife, then I have a really nice fold up chair (Bass Pro sells the same chair for about $49 on sale) I use so we can watch TV comfortable . . . I've thought about making a small round 18" table for holding drinks and such when watching TV but turning the table works fine and we don't need a place to store it when not in use.

Also we almost traded ours up to the 25' cougar looking for more storage space as these smaller campers are really often not designed for longer trips, (we wanted a pantry) but then decided to modify the (almost useless) hanging locker in the bathroom. After beefing up the base we installed a 3 draw plastic storage organizer with a small stretch cord to keep it closed during travel. With our second 17 day trip to WV this upgrade more than proved it's self.

I'm now constantly looking for modifications I can make to our camper to improve the organization capacity of our unit, but I'm being careful not to be obvious in my improvements. If we ever sell or upgrade, I want the floor plan to be as original as possible

Good luck with what you decide

We installed a Springfield Three Stage Table Pedestal to eliminate the two legs and still be able to use the dinette as a bed. An added benefit is that the table now turns for easier access and more comfortable seating. Walmart had the best price at the time. Great mod!

Here is what I did in our hanging locker in the bathroom so we could have a makeshift pantry. The base will not hold the extra weight so I had to also install a piece of 1/2" plywood over the original bottom

I really like this idea but, man, those guys are pricey.

We couldn't stand the two pedestals any longer. Made a big difference!

We also were uncomfortable with the seating in our 19FB. What we did was to take the cushions to our local foam store and got the foam replaced with closed cell foam. Now when we sit on them the seat does not compress as much so that the back of the seat does not lower and let our backs hit the top of the seat, that little protrusion that is on top of the seat. Now we are quite comfortable seating around the table.
As far as the pedestal goes we don't have a problem with it.

I am planning on taking out our benches, sliding the table into the corner and picking up some chairs instead. Our sofa is also uncomfortable and we will be removing that and installing a larger reclining theater sofa.

you can always put it back

We had a similar issue in a previous camper we owned that had a dinette.
It only takes 15 minutes to eat, but then you spend hours the rest of the evening with uncomfortable seating.
We finally removed the dinette and did what you are proposing--replaced the dinette with comfortable recliners, and we never regretted it.
If you do it carefully, and save all the parts, you can put it all back together if you decide to sell or trade the unit.

We're thinking hard about that three-stage table pedestal.
