Howdy All;
Just to throw some fuel on the fire ...
water weighs 8lb. to the gallon (roughly).
50 gal. would come in at 400 lbs. now consider the footprint of the
container that you are going to place the water in.
A 55 gal. drum has a circular foot print that is 24" in diameter or roughly 3.14
square feet. 400 / 3.14 = 127.4 lb./sq. ft. That's upright. if you lay it horizontal
in a cradle, avg. drum is 34" tall
http://www.grainger.com/Grainger/MAU...&cm_vc=IDPRRZ1
and weighs 24 #'s. a few 2X4's for a cradle and you add (with drum weight),
about 50 more lbs. so 450#'s / 7.39 sq. ft. = 60.9 lb./ sq. ft.
How much do you weigh when you place all of your weight on 1 foot??? and
that doesn't even cover a full sq. ft. ????
Of course I'm not recommending you tote a full drum on the roof, but just
to show it might be feasible.
