Hard Start Caps Necessary on NEW Trailers?
Question,
Purchased a New 2018 Premier 26RBPR Last weekend.
TT has 2 A/C's But the Main one is a Dometric B59515.
In an effort to make Generator hook up easier (probably have a 3500)
I was wondering if the newer Units require Hard Start Caps, or are they already there?
I realize I won't be able to Run both at the same time(on Generator). But one should help ease the pain on Hot days while boon-docking.

I haven't needed one. I have a 15k A/C that I run on a Champion 2800/3100w.

They are not there and as you probably know the Hard Start Cap is required when your generator's output is marginal for your intended use.
For $10 it won't hurt anything to install one to "ease the pain" as you said.

They are only about 11 bucks each on Amazon. I bought a couple for our 2 a/c units but so far only carry them in my odds and ends box. Supposedly the newer Dometic a/c's already have them, but no where can I find the proof: https://www.amazon.com/SPP6-Capacito.../dp/B0002YTLFE

I had my 2014 AC unit replaced in 2016 due catching a wire driving under trees. Are these Dometic units outfitted with hard starts?

Charby - After adding my post above, I did a little more looking to try and decide if I should install the two Supco hard start capacitors in ours. What I found is still inconclusive and confusing. Dometic has at least two different hard start 'kits' and probably more that are updates to their line. When (IF?) the snow ever melts off the roof of our 5er, I'll go up on the roof, pull the cover and look at part numbers and check against the standard parts list. My guess - that's the only way to tell for sure.

Our previous TT had the Dometic 13.5k A/C. We needed to add a hard start kit to effectively start the A/C with our 3000w inverter generator. The new Cougar has the 13.5k Coleman A/C that has started with the same genny just fine with no kit added.
Could be the manufacturer difference or the newer design updates, not really sure.
My advice, if you haven't tried it yet, do so first.
Get the genny running high speed. Put the fridge on gas only. Turn the A/C on via the thermostat. It should bring the "fan only" on for a few seconds then energize the compressor. That's when you'll know if you're OK.
Good Luck!!

I bought a pair of Hard Starts, I'm on my way to florida (staying at Dad's), and while there, I will do some testing and see what is actually under the hood of my Brand new Dometics...... Follow-up coming.....
