I have a cheaper drone, that the kids gave me for my birthday a few years ago and I gave up on it after a few flights... you really have to "fly" it... the mavic just about flies itself, has a advertised range of 4 miles and a huge list of features comparable to the Phantom, I think I heard it has 14 or so processor cores in it.

My son will be 33 in a few weeks.

Maybe we should start a "show us your drone shots" thread

Whew....I was afraid you were going to say he was like 8 or 9 years old. That would be embarrassing to be aced out by a kid.

I like it.....show us your drone shots thread. I've got to get some soon....been concentrating on learning to fly it.

Yes...FAA requires pilot register the drone for commercial use. And the pilot MUST pass a Ground Pilot's Test, which is not something one passes without significant study. My son who is an aerospace engineer has his Ground Pilot license and he studied quite a bit.

Recreational flying though used to require registering your bird, but FAA changed that giving true "hobbyists" an exemption under "Special Rule for Model Aircraft"

So if you are thinking about any commercial work, start studying
