The problem with the diagnosis is it's not legal to use galvanized piping for LP, it must be black pipe, copper, or stainless steel. Plus the salty sea air along the coast had as much or more to do with the rust as any condensation.
I do agree you should inspect the entire LP system regularly & keep it painted to prevent rust.
