4 years later and mine is sticky to the this day. I've tried lube, I've made sure that flush screws were in place (originally they had the wrong screw and the head would catch). I've gone so far as to polish the striker plate.

I've made it better, but it still feels like garbage, still have to slam it shut. My buddies trailers the door opens and close like silk.

I think it has to do with the cheap metal the latch is made from.

My in-laws trailer door opens with a sneeze and closes so nicely. I'm jealous!

Another option I've had excellent success with is to remove the inside plate for the lock and spray white lithium grease on the interior of the lock - the areas that move back and forth. This has made every door I've had a problem with work perfectly...
