When did they pave I-81

We just came back from a southern trip that included a weekend in Paw Paw WV. I didn't want to take I-81 but any other route was more than 2 hours longer.
They paved I-81!
We drove from TN to Winchester VA and it was smooth and efficient.
Maybe it was a Thursday but truck traffic seemed lighter too.

New black top through downtown Knoxville I-40 too. It had gotten horrible but the asphalt fairies came for a few nights and now it's very nice.
