Capital Grill

My 25res came with one of those Capital Grills, in the wood box. I got a recall notice on it from my dealer not long after I bought it, what a pain to have to pull it back through Atlanta and leave it. I had used the thing about 3 times. Once just as a grill, impossible to get clean, then twice trying to fry eggs and bacon with a pan. It kind of sucked for that. I thought to myself, self, why do I want to go through the hassle to get the same dang thing I hate back? I swapped it out today for a 3 burner cook top. It took a little trimming with a jigsaw. I've still got to finish pulling the blue plastic off the cover, but it turned out pretty darn good. Much better than that dumb Capital Grill thing.

Is that wood that is still under the burner unit? I believe the Capital recall was due to that and they replaced the support under the burner with metal if I recall. You may still have the same fire (I believe that was the issue) problem. I'm sure someone that had it done can shed more light.

I've seen other models with similar cooktops in a wood box. The Capital Grill heat source was down inside the box, which I think was the issue. When I took it out, I could see burn marks just from using it 3 times. When I used it, you could feel the wood got hot and it smelled like burned wood. This does not have the same problem since the heat is basically above. I get it that I won't be under warranty, but I didn't care for the capital grill to begin with.

I wasn't aware of the details of their construction just wanted to be sure you were aware of the issue. Sounds like this one is going to fix that. It looks good - I like that cook top.

What cooktop did you install? I want to change mine out also. Your install looks great.

Very nice! Do you have to pull your gas hose out and connect to the outside of the trailer?

Yes. It connects to the line underneath, the same way the grill did.

Our new Cougar came with a Capital Grill, we do not know where to connect it to get propane. I could not find a propane hose to attach the grill to. I would like to use it for corn on the cob, or hot water or anything that I can cook that won't make a mess.

Any help or pictures would be helpful. Thank you!

Some trailers come with the LP quick connect and some don't, but, since it came with the grill I'm pretty sure you will have one. If you can't see it easily just crawl under the trailer and locate your gas line (pipe), somewhere you will probably have a little tap that ends with a little connector on the end with a plastic cover on it - that's where the hose from your grill connects.

Nice job on the upgrade. I am not super impressed with the capital grill either. It is a process to keep clean and pan frying isn’t very efficient.

I brought the RV home this Thanksgiving weekend. I tried out the capital grille. The burner lights up only on the left half of the grill, the burner does not extend past the center. Thus the right side is not hot. Are the grills designed like?

The grill made two black spots on the left side and the right side is still shinny.

First thing I removed...

The slide out sink/stove. Neither was worth using, so now I have all my case water/pop/beer in that area; big gainer.

Does anyone know how to contact the manufacture of this grille? I've looked on line and Capital Grille doesn't list it as one of theirs. I've contacted Keystone and they couldn't help me with a contact. I was thinking of ordering new grill plates for the Grille that came with my 2020 Cougar 26RKS.

In the back of the Capital Grill Instruction Manual it lists:
DDR Company, LLC
705 S. Division St.
Bristol, IN 46507

574-970-9765

The Manual lists parts # also.

Does the manual also list the cutout size for the installation? I'm interested in possibly replacing mine with a stove but wanted to see how close I can get to the right size.

I swapped out my Capital grill for an Atwood DV30 3 burner cooktop. I had to cut away roughly an 1" front to back and a bit less on the sides. Was easy work with a jigsaw and metal blade and fit really well.

Here is a link to the cooktop. Cutout and overall dimensions are listed in the specs:

Can get you one tomorrow. I removed the grill and replaced it with the 17. But later I found the 22 would of fit just perfect when the grill was removed. I had to do some adjustments to make the 17 fit.
