LED docking light mystery

Brought the 5er home from dealer after they made some repairs. Got home to discover the LED docking light above the pin hitch was lighted. Swith did not effect it, so I unplugged the switch. Light still on. Turned off all breakers and light still on. Used battery disconnect and light still on. Finally disconnected the battery cables and finally the light turned off. Hooked the battery cables back up and now the light works off the switch again properly. Mystery to me

There's no mystery.... All you needed to do is use the remote to turn the lights off and then the switch would have worked. Anything turned on with the remote MUST be turned off with the remote or the manual system won't work..... Easy fix, but I have never found it in the owner's manual or in any literature anywhere..... It's a "forum exclusive" LOL

No my remote does not work the outside lights, so that was not the issue here. So apparently it is still a mystery.

yeah this is posted now. 3 years ago when I got my camper, this info was not on here. I disconnected the remote wiring by cutting the wiring and wire nutted it. NOW I cant get it all back together & to work right so I have to turn it by hand because that is so hard .

Are you sure that the docking lights aren't a menu item on your remote? I have a 2011 Cougar 318SAB and the docking lights are able to be controlled on the remote, along with all the slides, the jacks, etc. Anything needed during setup is operable from my remote and yes, if the docking lights are turned on by the remote, the only way to turn them off is with the remote. In fact, I got a second remote from eBay and programmed it to work the control board on my unit and now have a remote in the trailer and one that I keep in the console of the truck. I suppose they could have "cheapened" the remote systems on the new ones, but, if they did, it makes me glad I have an '11 with more remote features.

I'd be very surprised if the remote didn't control the docking lights....

Javi,

Me too. The Cougar remote, since 2011 has controlled the docking lights. I was looking at a 2014 Cougar today when picking up my Springdale (Yes it's home now) and the remote on it controls the docking lights. I'd be very suprised if Cougar made one model that doesn't have this feature, however, I suppose stranger things have happened. Like you, I'd bet the remote does control the docking lights. Given the information that removing all power from the trailer turned the lights off and now they work manually tells me that the remote was "disconnected from power" and reset itself, completing the remote function that was started by turning on the docking lights with the remote. So once the remote "brain" was reset, the manual function works again. Just my take on what "little" I know about Cougars LOL

I own 326MKS. The 333MKS is the replacement for mine. On my remote the hitch lights are not a menu item, but a dedicated switch. My remote has 3 push button on the top row, the one with the light bulb is for LED docking lights.

Mine was on from the day I bought it. Before I figured what the problem was, I disabled it. See no need to turn the light on with the remote and now it cannot be accidently turned on with the remote especially if you lose the remote after it's turned on! YMMV

LED mystery

Well, on my remote, along the top edge, there are several icons. One of those is what looks like a light bulb. Thats the button for the LED docking lights. There are no menu items to scroll to for the docking lights. Push the icon and TaDa... I was here last night searching for the same answer, after a weekend on the road with the lights on, and found this to resolve my issue.

Front Flood light

On our Cougar HC, the 'light' button on the remote controls the flood light on the front doorside of the RV - I don't think we have docking lights?
However, like JRTJH said, the light button on the remote controls this light. We were outside on one trip, and noticed the light on. Tried the inside switch for the light, and it wouldn't go out.... Just sitting there stumped as to why the switch wasn't working. Got out the remote, and started playing with it, and the button turned off the light. Now, when we used the inside switch, the light went on and off. I'm not sure I follow this logic, but that's how it works on our 5ver.

We've only had this about 4 months, and about 5 trips, and learn something new every trip.

Keystone Couger Docking light

Docking lights will not shut off. I have had this happen before and realized that I can only shut them off by the remote. I am using the remote this time and the only options are the slides, awning, and the landing gear. Nothing on the Lights. I can not get the lights off this time and am stumped, does anybody have any ideas? Oh, and I tried the light bulb---nothing happens to lights and the remote just says toggle light with arrow going to the right when I hit it.
