Greetings from the Mile High City!

Hi Everyone,

I am as green as they come with RV'ing! First time travel trailer owner, just picked up our '16 Passport 2810BH on Monday and looking forward to making some memories with my family. (Wife, 4 kids and a D.O.G) Got set up with a Husky Centerline TS. So far my only trip was a 30 mile trek from the dealer and all went well. Pulling with a '15 Yukon XL w/ max tow package. Handled the dry trailer nicely. We shall see how she does with the family and cargo loaded. Heading to the scales when we get loaded up for our "maiden voyage" this weekend.

On the way home I noticed the tranny temp hovering around 203-205. Seemed a bit high to me but driving my f-150 today around town I was seeing the same 200+ temps (not towing) Is this normal for these half tons?

Have been lurking here for a while gathering all sorts of useful information. Thanks to all the folks here that have helped answer my questions along the way.

200 is normal. Both my 150 and 350 run in that range. It is not even half way on the Guage and no where near the caution zone. The new oils they use now can handle alot more heat than they use to before breaking down.

to the forum and congrats on the new rig! I think you're going to find that having the camper is a LOT of fun - especially with the kids.

We just moved here a year ago from Northern California, also job related. We love it here. If you enjoy outdoors and 4 seasons this is a wonderful place to live! We haven't even scraped the surface of what there is to see and do here.

Welcome from Colorado Springs!

We bought a Passport 23RB back in May. Towed it one trip with our half ton and decided we needed another vehicle to comfortably tow in the mountains. Now the proud owners of a Ford F350 diesel (hey, go big or go home, right?).

Enjoy making memories!

Welcome to the forum rmcclean12. If you get a chance to go down to Colorado Springs, try Cheyenne Mountain State Park. We camped there for a few days while we went to Pikes Peak, Royal Gorge, and the Olympic Training Center. Nice view of Colorado Springs and Fort Carson. I have an F250 and my transmission temps are right around 200 when not pulling, and 200 to 210 pulling the 5er.

Welcome and congrats on the new RV. We're just down the I in Fountain. Learning he half the fun...enjoy the experience as each trip is a little different. We've been in snow, hail, rain, and lots of wind...passes and hot plains...but each time we learn a little, have fun, and enjoy the whole experience. Besides it provides great stories. Have fun on the forum.
