Pullrite Lubricant

What lubricant are you all using on your Pullrite Super Glides? Also do some need to be greased? Mine had alot of grease on it when I purchased it. I steam cleaned it all off. Now its nice and clean. I wont be able to get the Pullrite specific spray at the moment. So was looking for an alternative till I can order some.

The owner's manual that came with our PullRite specifies spraying WD-40 on the tops and inside vertical surfaces of the square tubes that the sliding mechanism travels on, so that's what I use.

Happy trails,

It depends on what you are greasing... Capture plate surface? Rails? My rails require a good axle grease.

I am assuming you bought a used one? Find out the manufacture date and model. Call Pullrite and ask them to make sure when you do. Their customer service is solid, even if you are not the original owner.

I've been using WD-40 as directed for a couple of years now with no issues. Spray a light coat on as directed each time before I hitch up. Every six months or so take it out of the truck and clean it up good, then re-lube with the WD-40.

Still working like a charm and I love it! Best hitch I've ever owned.

On the newer ones with the plastic slide inserts you use WD-40. On the older units before using the inserts you use a dry graphite spray. I don't think they recommend grease anymore, it collects dirt and acts like sandpaper. Check on Pullrites website for a operators manual.

Mine does not have a model number or manufacture date. Just weight ratings and instructions on how to use it on the sticker.

Just got off the phone with Pullrite. Mine is the model before they went to Teflon. He said to use medium duty grease. That is going to be messy.

I spray Slip Plate on my rails as recommended by Pullrite and enjoy the fact it does not collect dirt and dust. Seems there several recommendations based on the model/year hitch you have. Slip Plate is widely available at local stores and online.

I bought my 16K hitch in August 2010 but had I waited another year, the hitch would likely have the nylon/teflon slide surfaces.

Hey I recognize that hitch now... You got a deal in it...something like $450! Awesome find.

Again I the 18k version... Grease it is...and thats why you had all the grease on at purchase...it looks almost like new since your first posts!
