Too Gaudy?

Came across this picture posted on Twitter. The real question isn't if it's too gaudy, but, has the engraving decreased the load capacity of the assembly?

The only load limiting part of that hitch will be the ball.

Well, it's got to look good. I know when I'm driving down the freeway I'm checking out everyone's hitch.

Brian, it would seem that maybe you are a little too familiar with this type of fashion......

I'd prefer being behind this, over a hanging bag, anyday.

CD, I know you remember being 26 and not having a lick o' sense. I'll bet five dollars that if you were 26 again you'd have hanging balls, big tires, wheel spacers and big black stacks.....no, wait, no big black stacks! Sorry, I went one step too far!

Ha ha! At 26 I was driving an Audi Fox FWD stick. Didn't become a redneck until much, much later!

I wore RayBan aviators, the amber ambermatic ones. They would be yellow in haze or fog and turn gray when it was sunny. They were the best glasses I ever had for flying and for boating. And yes the cost a small fortune back in the early 80's. As a side note, they did go well with the Members Only jacket!

Have to disagree, during the late 70s and early 80s, I wore cowboy boots on boats, along with all the best sunglasses available at the time. The boats I was Captain of at that time were 230ft 7-10K HP Anchor Handling Tugs overseas towing and moving drilling rigs. This was before safety departments mandated safety shoes. Still don't know what they were thinking 4 to 5 decks above the work deck and winches in a wheelhouse, sure didn't need safety shoes!

I used to wear wayfarers for a long time but they ended up being too dark for me on cloudy days…serengeti drivers were perfect for low light and were all around great sunglasses…I wear Smith sunglasses now …I don’t always buy the best of everything but i believe in buying the best chainsaws ( stihl) and the best sunglasses (under $300) as well as a few other things where quality makes a difference …. I have a few different stihls and my oldest one ive had over 30 years and still starts on first couple of pulls ( 034 woodboss).

I’m colorblind so i don’t know if that’s why my eyes are more sensitive to the sun but i have to have good sunglasses

lol…..Our boats have white decks …it would be painful to see boot scuff marks all over the place

If anyone came to my boat with anything other than rubber soles they would have to leave them in the dock box. We had a boat, not a mega yacht so no hard soled shoes, period. The only exception I ever made was for my father. He was in his 70's and I got him to take a ride with us. He stayed on the carpet and wasn't about to walk out on the deck and tie off the fenders.
