Towing TT without a WDH
Towed home from KC on the new Bulletproof hitch and ball, no WDH. What we found was as expected, no sway, comfortable ride, no noise from trunnion bars on the A frame pads. (That usually occurs after a glaze of rust forms over the exposed steel.) However, what I had forgotten from back in the day when we used to do this with our F350, Dually, CC, LB, 7.3 Powerstroke, DI, Wastegate turbo is the leverage seesaw action over dips and bumps. The RAM 3500 towing the 25RDS on the ball when encountering dips or significant bumps at interstate speed will ride like a spring mounted rocking horse. Greater amplitude and wavelength then with the WDH. The cycles are smooth but seem exaggerated, where with the WDH the ride was more rigid and minimum seesawing. Note that the RAM 3500 is equipped with ride leveling airbags so the entire unit is in trim.

Nice sounds like WDH might be better.

It is not all about being level, but also weight transfer and distribution. A properly sey up weight distributing hitch will transfer some of the tongue weight to the front axle to improve steering and stability.
Turn off your air leveling suspension and see how much the rear of the truck will drop and how much the front rises. The WD hitch is set up with the leveling system off. Once you have the WD hitch dialed in, turn on the leveling system.

You might want to use our test track. Hwy 90 from Houma to Lafayette!!

Had a repeat trip, same route, etc and instead of running at the posted 75, slowed down to 70 and the hobby horse action over the big dips and bumps returned to normal. Additionally, fuel mileage improved, go figure!
As far as bumpy roads, that section of I-55 around Manchac use to be horrible.

I-55 around Manchac is OK now..hard to keep nice roads when built over swamps!! Hwy 90 is still the worst. Like taking a 14 ft flatboat across the North Sea!!
