Anyone have a problem with the door between the garage and living area not staying closed while towing. The latch catches but when we get to the campground the door is open

Howdy All;

Only a thought, it may be the gap between the door and the frame on the latch side might be just a tad to large. The trailers will flex while traveling (design feature, sorta like airplanes wings do flap while in flight keeps'em from breaking off). So maybe, the door is becomming unlatched on it's own.

Suggestion, use a bungee cord to help hold it closed .....

Problem and Fix

It is a problem that if not addressed will cause a damaged door. My routine included putting a cooler in front of the door in the garage to keep the door from swinging in tansit. I forgot ONCE!

The cheapy plastic door stop/catch punctured through the door. I plan on ordering a new door. I did a temporary repair by reinforcing the door area with textured ABS plastic so we didn't have to live with the hole.

Lowes sells antiqued brush hardware that matches the color of the stock hardware. I installed a door lock on the top of the door. I made sure the trailer was level when I installed it. I have filed it a bit so it will still work when the trailer is slightly out of level.

I also replaced the cheap plastic door catch with one that is magnetic and it actually holds the door open when needed.

See pics.

My 300MP had the same door opening problem. Just like 37240, I installed a simple brass slider latch in the garage side of the door that solve the problem.

Good luck.

Picked mine up yesterday and asked the dealer about that sense I saw it on here. He told me that you are to travel with the door OPEN. There is a clip on the back that holds the door in place. I don't know how that is going to work when loaded with atv's, but thought I would share that with you.

The way the trailer flexes during travel, that door is pretty much guaranteed to come loose. I took the non-fancy route and put a couple hook/eyelets in the frame/door and that took care of it. Better than getting my bike whacked by a floppy door.
